Wexford and District Womens and Schoolgirls League 23-01-2011

Under Twelve Cup First Round
Both Forth Celtic first and second teams negotiated tricky matches in the first round of the under twelve cup on Saturday morning. The first team travelled to Corach Ramblers and came away six nil winners thanks to hat tricks from Bronagh Whitty and Emma Codd while the second team came away from Bridge Rovers with a two nil win with Rachel Scannell scoring both. Bunclody travelled to Adamstown and came away four nil winners with Ava Slye and Michaella Farrell scoring one each and Rachel Kelly adding two. The other two games in the first round fell foul of the bad weather

Under Twelve Cup Second Round
The most exciting game of the day in the under twelve cup second round saw All Blacks travel to North End and come away four three winners. An own goal, Aoife Kelly and Natasha Rossiter got the goals for the town side but a four goal blitz from Emily Coakley put the Mayglass side into the last sixteen. Bree United second string travelled to St Leonards second team and came away comfortable six one victors with Emma Byrne scoring four with Carrie Power and Aideen Byrne all scoring the visitors while Dearbhla O Malley scored for St Leonards. Camolin made the long trip to Fastnet Rovers and continued their good start to season with a four one win thanks to two goals each from Nicole Curran and Aoife Curran while Caroline Kavanagh scored for Rovers. Rosslare Rangers came away from Courtown Hibs B with a comfortable six nil win thanks to four goals from Caoimhe McKeown and one each from Kayleigh Butler and Lauren Barry. Kilmore United proved far too good for Cloughbawn knocking in a perfect ten without reply with Becky Furlong scoring seven while Abby Troy, Emily Bates and Chloe Bates all added one each. Ballindaggin made the short journey to Moyne Rangers and progressed to the third round with a four nil victory. Roisin Brimson scored twice to add to goals from Lisa Flynn and Sinead Nolan

Ger Dunne Under Sixteen Cup First Round
Only one match failed to be played in the first round of the Ger Dunne under sixteen cup when Bunclody v Shelbourne was called off due to a frozen pitch. A young understrength Castledockrell travelled to Kilmore and were beaten thirteen nil with Jasmine Redmond scoring five, Eva Troy with two and one each from Chloe Troy, Cora Cousins, Niamh Moore, Maria Byrne, Katie Lawlor and Jessie Benson. Seaview United had to work hard to overcome Forth Celtic who battled hard to the finish but the Duncannon side made it through two one thanks to two Leanne Foley goals while Chloe Fox scored a free kick for Celtic. St Cormacs made it through to the quarter finals after a five two win in Bree United. Shonagh Spratt Murphy and Chloe Morrissey scored for Bree but a hat trick from Amy Walsh and two goals from Shauna Sinnott put the Boolavogue girls through. Goals from Rachel Creane and Denise Bolger for Tombrack was not enough as home side Rathnure scored five with two goals each from Grace Dillon and Olivia Lambert and one from Michelle Martin. North End progressed four nil away to Adamstown with Thomashina Conway scoring two and one each from Zoe Doyle and Danielle Kehoe. In the all premier clash, Curracloe travelled to St Josephs and went through six nil thanks to goals from Alysha Cullen, Julie Coakley, Shauna Murphy, Gemma McCabe and two from Rhianna Jarrett. Gemma Kehoe scored five for Courtown Hibs as they proved too strong for fellow division two side Rosslare Rangers as they ran out seven nil winners with Aimee Traynor and Casey Donnelly scoring the other two.

Under Twelve Division Three
Shelbourne seconds moved top of under twelve division three when travelling to Corach Ramblers on Sunday and winning seven one. Shauna Cowman and Kelly O Rourke scored one each, Kate Murphy scored two and Hannah Keating grabbed a hat trick to move the Ballywilliam girls top of the table

Womens Premier Division
Curracloe United remain top of the premier division when hosting bottom side Kilmore United and winning five one thanks to one goal from Tara Moloney and four from under sixteen starlet Alysha Cullen while Leanne O Reilly scored for the visitors. Benfica continue to keep the pressure on the leaders with a massive eight nil win over Adamstown who have fell out of the title race in recent weeks and are now looking over their shoulders at the teams coming behind them. Brianne O Connor and Linda Douglas scored two each while Maria Delahunty, Therese Leahy, Claire Conlon and Melissa Crowley all added one each

Womens Division One
Seaview United remain top of division one in easier than expected fashion when receiving a walkover from St Josephs and were rewarded further when second place St Cormacs were held to a draw away to Enniscorthy Town. Amy Walsh had given the visitors a first half lead but Town took a point from the match when Ann Marie Dwyer scored a second half equaliser. A Sarah Merrigan hat trick helped third place Coolgreaney take all three points in a ten nil win away to Ferns United second team. Karen Morris and Audrey Whitty scored two each while Jackie Kinch, Deirdre Healy and Meabh Hughes all added one each. Tramore also kept in the hunt for promotion when proving too strong for Slaney Rovers, running out seven nil winners. Niamh Walsh and Jessica Gleeson scored two each while Zoe O Donoghue, Catherine Power and Tara Power added a goal each. In a relegation battle, All Blacks took the vital three points when overcoming Glen Celtic two one with Mary Rose Kelly scoring two for the home side while Barbra Sludds scored for Celtic



Womens Division Two A
Shelbourne are only one point away from lifting the league title after they proved too good for Corach Ramblers running out eight nil winners. Leona Breen and Gina Foley scored two each to add to goals from Mary Rose Foley, Marcella Cullen, Tara Kennedy and Siobhan Grant Moorehead. Forth Celtic had to come from behind to earn a point to remain the only team with a slim mathematical chance of preventing Shelbourne from lifting the title. Taghmon took a two nil lead before Ciara Rossiter came on as a sub to score twice in the final ten minutes. Wexford Celtic made the long journey to Arklow and came away with the points to remain in the hunt for promotion after a five one win with Lorraine Hore scoring two to add to one each from Lisa Marie Doyle, Lorraine McMahon and Michelle Murphy while Michelle scanlon scoring for the home side.

Womens Division Two B
Shilelagh United remain top of division two b after a comfortable eight one win over Rosslare Strand. Niamh White scored for Strand but a hat trick for Elaine Murphy and one each from Susie Simpson, Noreen Lambert, Fiona Byrne, Fiona Dagge and Edel Kennedy gave Shilelagh the three points. New Ross Town kept the pressure on the leaders with a nine one win over Campile with Josie Murphy scoring a hat trick and one each from Yvonne O Neill, Jenny White, Linda Kelly, Kiara Aylward and two from Aoife Nugent while Melissa Doyle scored for Campile. Rosslare Rangers were also big winners as they won seven nil away to Moyne Rangers with Bobbi Doyle scoring two and Aine O Connell, Shauna Fitzpatrick, Sinead Fitzpatrick, Sharon Murphy and Karen Sinnott all scoring one each. Castledockrell collected all three points away to Cloughbawn to keep them in touch with the leaders as Kelly Anne Murphy and Joanne Kearns scored in a two one win

Wexford Womens Cup
North End United travelled to Courtown Hibs in the refixed Wexford Cup first round match and made their way into a second round tie with Moyne Rangers after an eight one win. Lauren Ramsey scored for Hibs but a hat trick from Martina Pender, two goals from Thomashina Conway and one each from Nelly Walsh, Shauna Carley and Shauna Glesson saw the Wexford town side through. In the top match of the day, Ferns United entertained Killenagh Wanderers in the second round and the home side went through on a three nil scoreline. The home side got the ideal start when going two nil ahead thanks to goals from Rachel Collier and Orla Murphy before Killenagh found their feet and were unfortunate not to get themselves back into the game and Megan Murray ensured the home sides place in the last sixteen with a goal in the last minute.
