           Wexford and District Women’s and Schoolgirls League 25-09-2016

Under Ten Premier Division
Ballindaggin AFC      6          Bridge Rovers            4
Last season’s premier winners Ballindaggin got off to a winning start but were made to work hard by a very good Bridge Rovers side before eventually securing the three points. Nicole Murphy (3) and Aoife McEldowney were on target for Rovers while Leah Roban (3), Emily Roban (2) and Lucy Nolan scored for the home side

Curracloe United       4          St Josephs      1
Curracloe got off to a winning start to the season when they overcame St Josephs in difficult conditions on Saturday morning. Brooke Kehoe scored a late goal for the visitors but the home side were well in control at this stage with goals from Polly Redmond (2), Molly o Brien and Zara Corrigan

Under Ten North Division
Ferns United              4          Bunclody AFC            2
The home side returned to underage soccer after a few years break and their Under Ten side got off to a winning start with a 4-2 win over Bunclody. Goals from Katie Murphy (3) and Anna Kavanagh gave Ferns the three points with Mia Dunne and Leah Kavanagh on target for Bunclody

Carnew FC     0          Tombrack United      4
Tombrack travelled across the border to County Wicklow and returned home with all three points after a 4-0 win over Carnew, another club returning to underage soccer after an absence. A Mikayla Tobin Cosgrave hat trick and a goal from Emer Roche gave the visitors all three points

Courtown Hibs          9          Aughrim Rangers      1
Hibs got their season off to a flying start when they hosted a young Aughrim Rangers side and ran out comfortable 9-1 winners. Poppy Jordan got her name on the scoresheet for Rangers but an incredible seven goal tally from Issy Kenna and goal each from Grace Willoghby and Zoe Hernandez had Courtown always in control

Under Ten East Division
Bree United    1          Cloughbawn AFC      5
As the weather deteriorated during the day, these two brave sets of players took to the pitch and managed to produce an exciting game with Cloughbawn eventually running out 5-1 winners. Emily Hayes (4) and Ciara Wilson made up the visitors tally while Ella Doyle scored for Bree

Wexford Youths        4          Forth Celtic    0
Youths got their season off to a winning start when they overcame Forth Celtic 4-0 in a game that was closer than the scoreline would suggest. Aoife Doran (2), Alexa Clancy and Layla Stafford were all on target for the winners

Under Ten South
Corach Ramblers      1          All Blacks        8
All Blacks got their season off to a good start against a very young Corach side and ran out comfortable 8-1 winners. Siofra Cullen was on target for Ramblers

Under Ten West
Seaview United         1          New Ross Celtic        1
These two young sides played out an exciting 1-1 draw and both will be happy with a point each. Kirsty Cheevers was on target for Seaview while Gillina La Forge scored the goal for Celtic

Under Fourteen Division One
All Blacks        7          St Josephs      3
Played in difficult conditions, this game was tied 2-2 at half time but a strong second half performance from All Blacks saw them run out 7-3 winners. Edel Kehoe, Holly Meehan and Alec Meehan were all on target for St Josephs but goals from Emma Carr (2), Aoife Reese (2), Seren Ward, Sarah Hendrick and Ciara Reese gave the home side victory

Moyne Rangers         0          Shelburne FC             0          (Abandoned after 27 minutes)
With a 4pm kick off, this match was the one that got caught in the torrential rain that swept across the county late afternoon. As conditions deteriorated, the referee was left with no option but to abandon the game just before half time

Under Fourteen Division Two A
Gorey Rangers          1          North End United     2
Probably one of the best games of the day saw North End travel to Gorey and come out on top by the odd goal in three. Both sides produced some excellent football in difficult conditions with Ciara Wilkinson on target for Rangers and Katie Law scoring both goals to give the Wexford town side all three points

Seaview United         7          Wexford Youths        2
Played on Sunday afternoon, Seaview opened their campaign with a win at home to Wexford Youths. Sophia Kotun and Emer Halpin scored for the visitors while goals from Leah Murphy (2), Charlotte Morrissey (2), Ciaradh Connolly, Ava White Keating and Jamie Walsh gave Seaview all three points

Under Fourteen Division Two B
Bree United    0          Aughrim Rangers      2
New club Aughrim Rangers made the first game in the league a winning one when they travelled to Bree and came out on top 2-0. Goals from Anna Lawlor and Aoife Connolly gave Rangers a historic victory

Women’s Premier One Shield Group A
Piltown FC      0          East End United         5
East End eased through to the quarter finals of the Shield when they came out on top in this Kilkenny derby winning 5-0. A hat trick from Lauren Valentine and two goals from Ria Lawson saw the Bennetsbridge side through

Women’s Premier One Shield Group C
Seaview United         5          Corach Ramblers      0
After last weeks heroics against Adamstown, Corach found Seaview to be a much stiffer test in this Shield game and went down 5-0. Catherine Doyle scored two with Emer Mullan, Brid Kehoe and Sinead Rowe all getting their names on the scoresheet

Women’s Premier One Shield Group D
Ferns United  12        Kilmore United          0
Ferns topped Group D after this comfortable win over a young Kilmore side and have now scored 20 goals in their two group games. Liz Evered and Leona Breen scored four each with Joanne Barcoe adding two and Josie Dwyer and Rachel Collier getting one each. Eimear Nolan made an impressive debut and it looks like Ferns are going to be the team to beat this season

Women’s Divisional Shield Group A

Hibs have almost booked their place in the second round after this hard fought victory over a battling Camolin side. After a scoreless first half, the home side eventually broke the deadlock when Eabha Cahill scored when she got on the end of a well taken corner. Camolin did work hard but the home side held on for the three points

Women’s Divisional Shield Group B
St Leonards    6          Fastnet Rovers          2
Four goals from Fiona Ryan set the home side on their way to their third win of the season and qualify top of this group for the next round. Alex Holden and Eimear Gabbett were also on target for St Leonards while Lorraine Breen and Eadaoin Miskella both scored for Fastnet

Women’s Divisional Shield Group C
Cloughbawn AFC      13        Shelburne FC             1
Both these teams have qualified for the next stage of the Shield but Cloughbawn proved they are one of the favourites for the competition after this comprehensive win over Shelburne. Gina Foley (5), Tina Cullen (3), Jessica Martin (2), Kate Cullen, Hannah Keating and Tracy Martin were all on target for the winners. Kate Devereux scored for Shelburne who battled bravely to the end.

Seaview picked up their first win of the season when they came out on top in this five goal thriller away to Cushinstown. Amie Gaffney scored both goals for the home side while Shannon Doyle (2) and Kayleigh Shannon were on target for Seaview

Women’s Divisional Shield Group D
Moyne Rangers         7          Arklow Town             1
Moyne have qualified for the next stage of the Shield with this 7-1 win over Arklow Town who were also in contention for a place until this defeat. Two goals from Nicola Davitt and one each from Rachel Breen, Nikita Dillon, Aideen Byrne, Megan O Shea and Ciara Tobin saw the home side comfortably through

Group winners Bunclody recorded their third win of the season as they overcame a determined Ajax side with five goals to spare. Britney Conroy has showed a return to form with a hat trick while Kate Hendrick and Hayley Browne were also on target

Rosslare Rangers      0          St Josephs      5
St Josephs made it three wins from three games and have comfortably qualified for the next round after this 5-0 win away to a young Rosslare Rangers side who are in the process of rebuilding. Paula Lyons scored a hat trick with Kelsey Reid and Orry Murphy also finding the net

Women’s Premier Division
Benfica LFC    1          Curracloe United       4
A young Curracloe side has sent shockwaves through the Premier division with a 4-1 win away to Benfica. Both sides were understrength but it was the young Curracloe side who showed heart and determination to turnover their more experienced opponents. Two goals each from Siobhan Doolan and Sarah Harding Kenny saw the Seasiders open their premier campaign with three points

Women’s Division Three
St Cormacs    2          Bridge Rovers            1
A very closely contested game saw St Cormacs eventually overcome Bridge Rovers by the odd goal in three. Rebecca Parker scored for Bridge while Danielle O Connor and Michaela Hawkins scored the goals for the home side

The league are now inviting applications for managers of our Under Twelve, Under Fourteen and Under Sixteen squads. Anyone interested in the above positions should contact League Secretary Martin Cahill on wexfordanddistrictwomensleague@gmail.com for further details. People should be aware that these are volunteer positions and applicants should have a good knowledge of the Schoolgirls game in Wexford. The Under Twelve manager will be appointed for a three year term while the other two positions will be on an annual basis. Interested parties should contact Martin before Friday September 30th

This division promises to be very competitive this season and showed this when both opening games were draws. Courtown and Ballindaggin produced an outstanding encounter with Sasha Greene (2) and Hanna Redmond on target for Hibs while Niamh Doyle and Ana Roban (2) finding the net for Ballindaggin

St Leonards    1          Seaview United         1
These two local rivals also produced a thrilling game which also ended in a draw. Abby Whitty scored the goal for the home side with Sophie Doyle scoring to earn Seaview a points

Under Twelve Division One
Moyne Rangers         0          North End United     9
A very strong North End side proved too strong for a young Moyne side and ran out comfortable winners with a nine goal margin. Katie Law scored a personal tally of six with Shannon McGuire and Leah Sinnott with two also finding the net

All Blacks        5          Curracloe United       3
The home side came out on top of this eight goal thriller between two sides who will both fancy their chances of challenging for the title. Emma Cullen (2) and Caoimhe Whelan scored for Curracloe while Cora Sinnott, Ciara Murphy and Aoibheann Rankin (3) were all on target for All Blacks

New Ross Celtic        4          Adamstown   3
A Caoimhe Kehir Murtagh hat trick gave Celtic a good foundation as they overcame Adamstown by the odd goal in seven. Casey Murphy also scored for the home side while Karlina Jarlarz, Ella Furlong and Ella Roche all found the net for Adamstown

Grace Donoghue was on target for Bree in this match but found the home side too strong on the day as they ran out 6-1 winners. Jade Conroy, Katie Moynihan, Corie Fotzgerald, Sarah Kenny and Jenna Conroy (2) all scored for Bunclody

Two goals from Emma Rossiter and one from Aoibh Thomas gave New Ross Town a 3-0 victory away to Wexford Youths

St Josephs made the long journey to Rosslare a worthwhile one when they came away 5-1 winners against a young home side. Sarah Walsh (3), Charlie Kennedy and Skye Kavanagh were all on target for the visitors while Ashley Roche scored for Strand

Rosslare Rangers proved too strong for a youthful Forth Celtic side and ran out comfortable 9-1 winners. Katie Kehoe scored for Celtic but goals from Tegan Fortune (4), Bobbi Culleton (2), Abigail Clarke (2) and Amelia Reese gave Rangers all three points

These two sides played out a thrilling draw as they shared four goals in Campile on Saturday morning. Sally Kehoe and Lauren Howlin Bolger were on target for the home side while Aoife Byrne scored both goals for Cushinstown

The Boolavogue girls looked very impressive as they opened their season with a seven goal win over Gorey Rangers second team. Emerson Doran scored four with Bronagh Kenny with a hat trick made up their tally

These two Wicklow sides played out a tense 1-1 draw with Kay Murphy scoring the goal for Carnew while Ella Jenkinson scored for Arklow

Curracloe have qualified for the quarter final of the Shield after this win away to All Blacks. Roisin Furlong was on target for the home side but goals from Natasha Byrne (2), Siobhan Doolan and Roisin Doolan gave the visitors the points that ensured their place in the last eight draw

It took eighty six minutes for Adamstown to eventually break down the stubborn resistance of newly promoted Corach Ramblers. In an evenly contested match, it took a sparkle of brilliance from Chantelle Martin to eventually break the deadlock with four minutes to go

Bree United     0    Ferns United      8
Premier side Ferns were much too strong for newly promoted Bree and ran out comfortable 8-0 winners. Goals from Rachel Collier, Liz Everedd, Josie Dwyer, Georgina Moore, Nicola Kirwan and a hat trick from Aoife Devereux, who was making her debut, gave Ferns all three points

Despite this match being a scoreless draw, it was a game of several chances with the home side enjoying the best of the first half but unable to break down the visitors well organised defence. The second half was much more evenly contested and in the end both teams were content with a point

St Leonards have qualified for the knockout stages of the Shield after this 6-3 win away to a youthful New Ross Town. Sinead Ryan (2) and Sandra Murphy were on target for Town but goals from Fiona Ryan (4), Ciara Ryan and Niamh Browne gave the Ballycullane side their second win of the group and qualification for the next stage

Two wins from two games see Bunclody through to the knockout stages of the Shield as they travelled to Arklow and came away 2-0 winners. Hayley Browne scored direct from a corner and Britney Conroy made sure of the points with a goal ten minutes from the end

Bohs recorded their first win as an adult club when they overcame Rosslare Rangers 1-0 and gave themselves an outside chance of qualifying for the next round. Aideen Byrne scored the all important goal to give Bohs their historic victory

St Josephs have ensured their place in the knockout stage with a comprehensive 9-1 win away to Bridge Rovers. Sarah Ryan scored for Rovers but goals from Michelle Gahan (4), Emer O Leary (3) and Kelsey Reid (2) gave Joeys victory

After a rebuilding season last year, East End are back stronger than ever this year and overcame Benfica 4-2 in this opening Shield game. Kate Hurley and Leah O Donohue were both on target for the visitors but goals from Lauren Valentine (2), Caoimhe Shiel and Ria Lawson gave the Bennetsbridge girls victory

North End are returning to women’s soccer after a year’s absence and quickly got back to winning ways with a 2-0 win away to All Blacks. Danielle Chin and Lauren Roche were both on target for the Wexford town girls

Kilmore United          2          Bree United    3
Bree travelled to Kilmore and came out on top in a five goal thriller and have shown they will be a force to be reckoned with in Division One this year. Goals from Amy Long (2) and Mary O Gorman saw Bree eventually come out on top with Becky Furlong scoring both goals for the home side

Rovers proved too strong for a young Town side and ran out comfortable 6-2 winners. Jenny Delaney and Sinead Ryan were on target for Town while goals from Joanne Jordan (2), Kathlynn Gabbett, Lorraine Breen, Amy Cleary and Triona Kelly made up Rovers tally

Shelburne made a winning return to women’s soccer with a hard fought 2-0 win away to Cushinstown. Kelly O Rourke scored both goals for the Ballywilliam girls and get their season off to a winning start

Cloughbawn continued where they left off last season with a strong performance away to Seaview United second team. Shannon Doyle scored for the home side but a Gina Foley hat trick and goals from Kate Cullen and Tina Cullen gave the visitors victory

Sophie Savage was on target for the home side but a quick forward line gave their defence a torrid time and Arklow made their debut at this level a winning one.

This match between two of the Shield favourites was probably the match of the day with both sides bouncing back from poor seasons last year. Megan O Shea gave Moyne an early lead before goals from Kate Hendrick, an own goal and Katlyn Murphy put Bunclody 3-1 ahead. Siobhan Grant Moorehead did manage to pull one back for Moyne but the home side held on for the three points

Bridge are a team that could make an impact this season and showed their potential when they travelled to Rosslare Rangers and came away 4-1 winners. Lauren Barry scored for Rangers but goals from Deirdre Byrne (2), Hayley Lacey and Michelle Carr gave the Castlebridge side victory

St Josephs      7          Wexford Bohs            1
Aideen Byrne scored a header for new club Wexford Bohs but it was not enough against a very strong St Josephs side. Emer O Leary (2), Tracey McCormack (2), Michelle Gahan (2) and Orry Murphy were all on target for the home side who could be serious contenders this season if they can hold this squad together
