Last season’s
premier winners Ballindaggin got off to a winning start but were made to work
hard by a very good Bridge Rovers side before eventually securing the three
points. Nicole Murphy (3) and Aoife McEldowney were on target for Rovers while
Leah Roban (3), Emily Roban (2) and Lucy Nolan scored for the home side
Curracloe United 4 St
Josephs 1
Curracloe got off to
a winning start to the season when they overcame St Josephs in difficult conditions
on Saturday morning. Brooke Kehoe scored a late goal for the visitors but the
home side were well in control at this stage with goals from Polly Redmond (2),
Molly o Brien and Zara Corrigan
Under Ten North
Division
Ferns United 4 Bunclody AFC 2
The home side
returned to underage soccer after a few years break and their Under Ten side
got off to a winning start with a 4-2 win over Bunclody. Goals from Katie
Murphy (3) and Anna Kavanagh gave Ferns the three points with Mia Dunne and
Leah Kavanagh on target for Bunclody
Carnew FC 0 Tombrack
United 4
Tombrack travelled
across the border to County Wicklow and returned home with all three points
after a 4-0 win over Carnew, another club returning to underage soccer after an
absence. A Mikayla Tobin Cosgrave hat trick and a goal from Emer Roche gave the
visitors all three points
Courtown Hibs 9 Aughrim
Rangers 1
Hibs got their
season off to a flying start when they hosted a young Aughrim Rangers side and
ran out comfortable 9-1 winners. Poppy Jordan got her name on the scoresheet
for Rangers but an incredible seven goal tally from Issy Kenna and goal each
from Grace Willoghby and Zoe Hernandez had Courtown always in control
Under Ten East
Division
Bree United 1 Cloughbawn
AFC 5
As the weather
deteriorated during the day, these two brave sets of players took to the pitch
and managed to produce an exciting game with Cloughbawn eventually running out
5-1 winners. Emily Hayes (4) and Ciara Wilson made up the visitors tally while
Ella Doyle scored for Bree
Wexford Youths 4 Forth
Celtic 0
Youths got their
season off to a winning start when they overcame Forth Celtic 4-0 in a game
that was closer than the scoreline would suggest. Aoife Doran (2), Alexa Clancy
and Layla Stafford were all on target for the winners
Under Ten South
Corach Ramblers 1 All
Blacks 8
All Blacks got their
season off to a good start against a very young Corach side and ran out
comfortable 8-1 winners. Siofra Cullen was on target for Ramblers
Under Ten West
Seaview United 1 New
Ross Celtic 1
These two young
sides played out an exciting 1-1 draw and both will be happy with a point each.
Kirsty Cheevers was on target for Seaview while Gillina La Forge scored the
goal for Celtic
Under Fourteen
Division One
All Blacks 7 St
Josephs 3
Played in difficult
conditions, this game was tied 2-2 at half time but a strong second half
performance from All Blacks saw them run out 7-3 winners. Edel Kehoe, Holly
Meehan and Alec Meehan were all on target for St Josephs but goals from Emma
Carr (2), Aoife Reese (2), Seren Ward, Sarah Hendrick and Ciara Reese gave the
home side victory
Moyne Rangers 0 Shelburne
FC 0 (Abandoned after 27 minutes)
With a 4pm kick off,
this match was the one that got caught in the torrential rain that swept across
the county late afternoon. As conditions deteriorated, the referee was left
with no option but to abandon the game just before half time
Under Fourteen
Division Two A
Gorey Rangers 1 North
End United 2
Probably one of the
best games of the day saw North End travel to Gorey and come out on top by the
odd goal in three. Both sides produced some excellent football in difficult
conditions with Ciara Wilkinson on target for Rangers and Katie Law scoring
both goals to give the Wexford town side all three points
Seaview United 7 Wexford
Youths 2
Played on Sunday
afternoon, Seaview opened their campaign with a win at home to Wexford Youths.
Sophia Kotun and Emer Halpin scored for the visitors while goals from Leah
Murphy (2), Charlotte Morrissey (2), Ciaradh Connolly, Ava White Keating and
Jamie Walsh gave Seaview all three points

Division Two B
Bree United 0 Aughrim
Rangers 2
New club Aughrim
Rangers made the first game in the league a winning one when they travelled to
Bree and came out on top 2-0. Goals from Anna Lawlor and Aoife Connolly gave
Rangers a historic victory

Shield Group A
Piltown FC 0 East
End United 5
East End eased
through to the quarter finals of the Shield when they came out on top in this
Kilkenny derby winning 5-0. A hat trick from Lauren Valentine and two goals
from Ria Lawson saw the Bennetsbridge side through
Women’s Premier One
Shield Group C
Seaview United 5 Corach
Ramblers 0
After last weeks
heroics against Adamstown, Corach found Seaview to be a much stiffer test in
this Shield game and went down 5-0. Catherine Doyle scored two with Emer
Mullan, Brid Kehoe and Sinead Rowe all getting their names on the scoresheet

Ferns United 12 Kilmore
United 0
Ferns topped Group D
after this comfortable win over a young Kilmore side and have now scored 20
goals in their two group games. Liz Evered and Leona Breen scored four each
with Joanne Barcoe adding two and Josie Dwyer and Rachel Collier getting one
each. Eimear Nolan made an impressive debut and it looks like Ferns are going
to be the team to beat this season

Group A
Courtown Hibs 1 Camolin
Celtic 0
Hibs have almost
booked their place in the second round after this hard fought victory over a
battling Camolin side. After a scoreless first half, the home side eventually
broke the deadlock when Eabha Cahill scored when she got on the end of a well
taken corner. Camolin did work hard but the home side held on for the three
points

St Leonards 6 Fastnet
Rovers 2
Four goals from
Fiona Ryan set the home side on their way to their third win of the season and
qualify top of this group for the next round. Alex Holden and Eimear Gabbett
were also on target for St Leonards while Lorraine Breen and Eadaoin Miskella
both scored for Fastnet

Shield Group C
Cloughbawn AFC 13 Shelburne
FC 1
Both these teams
have qualified for the next stage of the Shield but Cloughbawn proved they are
one of the favourites for the competition after this comprehensive win over
Shelburne. Gina Foley (5), Tina Cullen (3), Jessica Martin (2), Kate Cullen,
Hannah Keating and Tracy Martin were all on target for the winners. Kate
Devereux scored for Shelburne who battled bravely to the end.
Cushinstown 2 Seaview
United “B” 3
Seaview picked up
their first win of the season when they came out on top in this five goal
thriller away to Cushinstown. Amie Gaffney scored both goals for the home side
while Shannon Doyle (2) and Kayleigh Shannon were on target for Seaview

Shield Group D
Moyne Rangers 7 Arklow
Town 1
Moyne have qualified
for the next stage of the Shield with this 7-1 win over Arklow Town who were also
in contention for a place until this defeat. Two goals from Nicola Davitt and
one each from Rachel Breen, Nikita Dillon, Aideen Byrne, Megan O Shea and Ciara
Tobin saw the home side comfortably through
Ajax Athletic 0 Bunclody
AFC 5
Group winners
Bunclody recorded their third win of the season as they overcame a determined
Ajax side with five goals to spare. Britney Conroy has showed a return to form
with a hat trick while Kate Hendrick and Hayley Browne were also on target

Rosslare Rangers 0 St
Josephs 5
St Josephs made it
three wins from three games and have comfortably qualified for the next round
after this 5-0 win away to a young Rosslare Rangers side who are in the process
of rebuilding. Paula Lyons scored a hat trick with Kelsey Reid and Orry Murphy also
finding the net

Benfica LFC 1 Curracloe
United 4
A young Curracloe
side has sent shockwaves through the Premier division with a 4-1 win away to
Benfica. Both sides were understrength but it was the young Curracloe side who
showed heart and determination to turnover their more experienced opponents.
Two goals each from Siobhan Doolan and Sarah Harding Kenny saw the Seasiders
open their premier campaign with three points

St Cormacs 2 Bridge
Rovers 1
A very closely
contested game saw St Cormacs eventually overcome Bridge Rovers by the odd goal
in three. Rebecca Parker scored for Bridge while Danielle O Connor and Michaela
Hawkins scored the goals for the home side

Managers
The league are now
inviting applications for managers of our Under Twelve, Under Fourteen and
Under Sixteen squads. Anyone interested in the above positions should contact
League Secretary Martin Cahill on wexfordanddistrictwomensleague@gmail.com
for further details. People should be aware that these are volunteer positions
and applicants should have a good knowledge of the Schoolgirls game in Wexford.
The Under Twelve manager will be appointed for a three year term while the
other two positions will be on an annual basis. Interested parties should
contact Martin before Friday September 30th
