Under Ten
Quarter Finals
The quarter
finals of the Under Ten Cup produced four very close encounters before the
semi-finalists were finally known with one game producing eight goals, two
being won by a single goal and one going all the way to sudden death penalties
before a winner was declared. Taghmon United and Bridge Rovers played out a very
entertaining tie before United eventually progressed to the last four on a 5-3
scoreline. Katie Carroll (2) and Aoibhe Manley were on target for Rovers but
four goals from Cora Banville and one from Aoibheann Murphy saw Taghmon
through. Curracloe United overcame Corach Ramblers by
a solitary
goal with Rebecca Fanning scoring the only goal of a very competitive match
with both sides creating several chances but Rebecca’s goal was the deciding
factor. All Blacks all progressed by a solitary goal away to Moyne Rangers in a
game where the home team dominated but could not score and were punished when
Zita Tiernan scored a long range effort late in the game. Ballindaggin and Admastown
played out a tense scoreless match that went to extra time and penalties before
Ballindaggin eventually progressed to the semi finals when they won out in
sudden death penalties. The draw for the semi finals see Ballindaggin home to
Curracloe while Taghmon will host All Blacks

The Wexford
Under Eighteen squad travelled to the AUL on Saturday to participate in the
first ever inter league tournament and were within five minutes of going
through to the final. The model county opened their campaign against a very
competent Mayo side and dominating long periods of the game, they conceded late
in the second half to go down 1-0. They got themselves back into the hunt when
a strong performance against Limerick Desmond saw them win 1-0 thanks to a goal
from Rachel Casey. In the final group game, a goal from Vanessa Ogbonna had
Wexford 1-0 ahead against Cork and were on the way to the final until two late
goals saw Cork grab a late three points. Well done to the players and
management on representing the league so well and the squad definitely showed
that they have a great future. The Metropolitan League were eventual winners of
