Wexford and District Womens and Schoolgirls League 06-02-2011

Under Twelve Cup First Round
The two outstanding under twelve cup first round games went ahead at the weekend resulting in wins for Shelbourne and Bree United. Two Jackie Carr goals had Shelbourne two nil up at half time and it was the last minute of the game before the home side scored with a Muireann Kehoe penalty. St Josephs and Bree United played out a very closely contested cup tie on Friday evening on Kilmuckridge with Bree eventually running out the winners with Louise Butler scoring the only goal of the match

Under Twelve Cup Second Round
Forth Celtic and Killenagh Wanderers played out an exciting cup tie with Bronagh Whitty putting Celtic ahead in the first but a second half hat trick from Tara Doyle put Killenagh through to the last sixteen. New Ross Town travelled to St Josephs second team and progressed to the third round with a three nil win thanks to two goals from Janine Doyle and one from Leona Quigley. Two goals from Ava Slye set Bunclody on their way to a three nil win over Seaview United with Kate Hendrick also scoring

Under Twelve League
North End picked up a vital three points in their quest to stay in the top division at under twelve when travelling to Ferns and coming away eight nil winners. Two goals each from Aoife Kelly and Chloe Keeling plus one each from Niamh Treacy, Clara O Doherty, Andrea O Brien and Sarah Murphy saw the visitors come away comfortable winners against a very young Ferns side who had an outstanding performance from Dawn Byrne. Courtown Hibs and Moyne Rangers produced a cracking match in division two A and Hibs moved top of the table when coming away from Enniscorthy two nil winners thanks to goals from Ventura Boylan and Ebah Dowdall. Fastnet Rovers and Ballindaggin played out a thrilling two all draw in the same division with Caroline Kavanagh and Michaela Naughton scoring for Rovers and Niamh Atkinson scoring both for Ballindaggin. All Blacks moved into a challenging position in division two B when coming away from Bridge Rovers as five one winners while Rosslare Rangers travelled to Ballycullane and came away with three points. In attrocious weather conditions, Dearbhla O Malley scored for the home side but goals from Lauren Barry and Caoimhe McKeon gave Rangers victory. In division three Camolin Celtic continue to lead the way with their fifth win from five games when they beat Bridge Rovers second team four nil.Chloe Ronan scored two for Celtic with Aoife Curran and Nicole Curran also finding the net. Corach Ramblers moved up to third when beating a young but improving Adamstown side four one in Newbawn. Eimear Mernagh scored for Adamstown but goals from Emma Howlin, Samantha O Grady, Saoirse Tracey and Jane Rossiter gave Ramblers an important victory

Under Sixteen League
St Cormacs kept in touch with the top of the table in the premier division when eventually breaking down a battling St Josephs side three one. Megan Wiley scored for St Josephs but two goals from Amy Walsh and one from Michelle Gahan gave the Boolavogue side a win that most likely ensures their survival in the top division for next season. In the top game in division one, North End proved too strong for Adamstown and moved top of the table with a seven one win in Drinagh. Emma O Brien scored for the visitors but four goals from Rebecca Foley and one each from Thomashine Conway, Jessica Beary and Sara Byrne gave North End a vital three points. Kilmore moved away from the relegation area when travelling to Castledockrell and coming away four one winners thanks to two goals from Jasmine Redmond and one each from Niamh Moore and Chloe Troy while Katie Atkinson scored for the home side. In the other match in this division, Seaview United travelled to Bree and came away three nil winners thanks to goals from Sheena Murphy, Ciara Nolan and Rose Wallace.

Womens Premier Division
Only one game survived in the top division with North End giving themselves a lifeline at avoiding relegation when overcoming fellow strugglers Kilmore United three one. Aoife Tormey scored twice with Nellie Walsh also scoring while Leanne O Reilly continued her good scoring form as she scored for Kilmore. The only other scheduled match in this division between Benfica and Bunclody was called off due to an unplayable pitch. It is also interesting to note that after thirty six games in the premier division this season to date, not one has ended in a draw

Womens Division One
Ferns United second string withdrew from this division during the week so most clubs picked up extra points although the allocation of points did little to affect the top of the table. The big match in this division between St Cormacs and Seaview fell foul to the weather and with Tramore involved in Leinster competition, no one took the opportunity to close the gap. Enniscorthy Town and Slaney Rovers both found the tough blustery conditions in Pearse Road difficult to handle and both defences dominated in a scoreless draw which did little to either of their positions in mid table. At the lower end of the table, St Josephs travelled to Glen Celtic and came away with a vital three points thanks to Shauna Warren who scored the only goal of the game.

Womens Division Two A
With Shelbourne already crowned champions, the battle is now on in division two A for runners up spot which will also ensure promotion. Wexford Celtic travelled to Taghmon and came away five nil winners thanks to goals from Rebecca O Connor, Lorraine McMahon and a Lisa Marie Doyle hat trick. Forth Celtic also remained in the hunt as they came away from Tombrack three nil winners courtesy of goals from Tina Bergin, Sharon Donoghue and Trisha Gahan. Corach Ramblers did their relegation worries a lot of good when proving too strong for Fastnet Rovers and winning two nil

Womens Division Two B
League leaders Shilelagh made the long journey to Rosslare Strand and came away with their tenth win in a row as they accounted for the home side five nil. Fiona Byrne scored twice to add to goals from Leanne Tumelty, Fiona Bass and Edel Kennedy and although not guaranteed yet, it looks very likely the Wicklow border side will be at least promoted. New Ross Town made the short journey to Campile United and kept the pressure on the leaders with a comfortable eight nil victory. Yvonne Malone scored a hat trick, Josie Murphy scored twice with Aine Leacy, Joanne Murphy and Ber Nugent all adding one each. Castledockrell kept alive their chances of getting promotion with a very important three one win in Rosslare Rangers. Bobbi Doyle scored for the home side while Kelly Ann Murphy with two and Bernie Coleman were on target for the visitors. In the other match in this division, Moyne Rangers collected a vital three points when travelling to Cloughbawn and coming away two nil winners

Leinster Junior Cup First Round
Tramore were the first Wexford team into action in this seasons Leinster Junior Cup and made it a winning one for the league as they comfortably defeated Terenure FC from Dublin seven nil. Niamh Walsh scored four with Rachel Corcoran, Zoe O Donoghue and Amy Nolan all adding one each
