Results and Fixtures 05-05-2014

Wexford and District Womens and Schoolgirls League 04-05-2014

Under Ten Premier Division

Curracloe travelled to Ballindaggin on Wednesday evening and a scoreless draw was enough to give them the under ten premier title for the fourth time in five year. Despite no goals, the game provided plenty of excitement with the home side going close on a couple of occasions but Curracloe did enough to wrap up the title on the day. They were presented with their trophy on Saturday by Tom “Flash” Dunne when they hosted Kilmore United and although they lost 2-0, the defeat did nothing to ruin the celebrations. Kilmore finished third with their two goals being scored by Melissa Smith.

Under Ten Division One Quarter Final

Cup finalists Taghmon United bowed out of the league play offs when they travelled to Seaview and were beaten 3-1. Ciaradh Connolly scored all three goals for the home side while Cora Banville was on target for Taghmon

Under Ten Division Two B Quarter Final

Corach Ramblers made the long journey to Killenagh and came 2-1 winners thanks to two goals from Abbey Murphy while Holly Moran scored for the home side. Corach will now meet Adamstown in the semi final of the league

Under Ten South West

Monday evening saw New Ross Town and Adamstown play out a 1-1 draw in their final regional game with Ella Lyng on target for Town while Ella Furlong scored for Adamstown.

Under Twelve Premier Division

Campile missed out on their chance to wrap up the premier title when they lost 1-0 at home to relegated Curracloe United. Despite creating several chances, they could not find the net and the visitors did enough to take all three points as they recorded their first win of the season

Under Twelve Division One

Courtown Hibs are within touching distance of the title after they travelled to Seaview and came away 6-0 winners and now only need another victory to wrap up the title. Lara Walsh (3), Gina Burke (2) and Ella Maree were all on target for an impressive Hibs side

Under Twelve Division Two A

New Ross Town were declared champions on Wednesday evening when a solitary goal scored by Claire Doyle gave them all three points in a 1-0 win over Shelburne. League Training Centre coach Mick Bennett was on hand to present the winning side with their league trophy.

Under Twelve Division Two B

Corach Ramblers and St Josephs will play off for the league title after Ramblers eventually got the three points they needed in a difficult match away to Tombrack. They eventually came away 2-1 winners with Niamh Miller scoring both Ramblers goals while Mia Kelly was on target for the home side

Under Twelve Division Three

A busy week in this division saw Camolin overcome St Josephs 3-1 on Monday with Ella Donahue scoring for St Josephs while Aine Byrne (2) and Emma Carton gave Camolin the three points. Shelburne second team travelled to Camolin on Wednesday evening and a 3-0 win was enough to see the visitors clinch second place in the league behind All Blacks. Gemma Martin (2) and Cora McGrath were on target for Shelburne. The top two teams met on Thursday night and All Blacks came out winners as they overcame the Ballywilliam side 3-2. Katie Murphy scored both Shelburne goals while Sarah Hendrick (2) and Emma Carr were on target for the league champions who were presented with their trophy by League committee member Tom “Flash” Dunne after the match.

Under Fourteen Premier Division

Kilmore United and Cloughbawn are both on track to meet in a play off after both recorded wins on Saturday against Curracloe and Moyne respectively. Kilmore won 5-0 with Ann Marie Bennett (2), Rachel Bennett, Emily Bates and Sophie Boxwell were all on target for the winners while Cloughbawn were 3-1 winners over Moyne Rangers.

Under Fourteen Division One

Bunclody made it a successful five days when they wrapped up the under fourteen division one title in St Leonards on Saturday. In a seven goal thriller, Bunclody took control of the game early and eventually ran out 4-3 winners with Britney Conroy scoring all four for the visitors. Fiona Ryan scored a hat trick for the home side who showed they are a team for the future. League Vice Chairman Barry Dempsey was on target to present the winning squad with their league trophy.

Under Sixteen Division One

Bunclody had already clinched the league title before they travelled to Bree on Tuesday evening and were presented with their trophy by League secretary Martin Cahill. The game itself ended 1-1 which kept Bree in the hunt for runners up spot with Aideen Byrne on target for the home side while the visitors goal was also scored by the home team when a defender deflected the ball into her own net.

Under Sixteen Division Two

Bridge Rovers have moved to the top of the table after they made the long journey to Arklow Town and came away 3-0 winners. Chloe Mythen (2) and Holly Johnson were on target for Rovers who now just need to win their last game to lift the title. Tombrack kept their promotion hopes alive when travelling to Campile and coming away 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Ciara Bolger, Mairead O Rourke and Denise Bolger. Chloe Banville was on target for the home side.

Under Eighteen League

Killenagh wrapped up the under eighteen league title on Tuesday evening when travelling to Kilmuckridge and overcoming St Josephs 4-2. The visitors just needed a point to clinch the title and raced into a 4-0 lead thanks to goals from Sinead Gaynor (2), Aoife McCrea and Megan Cahill before Chloe Breen Kavanagh pulled two goals back for the home side. League chairman Daire Doyle was on hand to present the trophy to the winning squad who became the eighth different club to win the trophy in its eighth season being played for.

Womens Premier Division

Ferns received an easy three points on Friday evening when Tramore were unable to field a team to fufil their fixture and have jeopardised their chances of finishing runners up. A 2-0 win for Benfica away to North End has seen the Waterford side move into that second place and one more point will see them clinch the silver medal spot. Beserta Ajeti scored both goals for Benfica in the first half. Seaview United and Cloughbawn will have to play off in a bid to avoid relegation after Seaview were beaten 3-1 by Adamstown on Sunday evening in Fethard. Maebh Kehoe was on target for the home side but goals from Aisling Whelan (2) and Edwina Whelan kept the visitors chances of grabbing second place alive.

Womens Division One

League champions Killenagh travelled to Kilmore United and won 4-2 which deprives the home side of second place. Katrina Parrock scored both goals for Kilmore while Clare Halvey, Theresa Redmond and Roisin O Connor (2) were all on target for the visitors. A good start to the season and a good finish saw New Ross Town leapfrog Kilmore into second place and gain promotion to the premier division as they proved too strong for Cloughbawn second team and ran out 8-0 winners. Sinead Ryan (6), Ann Carroll and Janet Brown were all on target for a dominant home side

Womens Division Two B

Moyne Rangers beat Cushinstown 3-2 on Sunday in the final game in the division to finish fourth with goals from Ciara Tobin, Megan O Shea and Aideen Byrne while Hazel Murphy scored both goals for Cushinstown
