Wexford and District Womens League 23-09-2012

Womens Premier Division

Seaview United          1          Tramore FC     2
After a thrilling battle in Mersheen, last seasons champions Tramore will feel fortunate to leave with three points as they trailed one nil with three minutes to go. Maebh Kehoe had given the home side the lead and despite the visitors piling on the pressure, it looked like Seaview might have done enough to hold on. However goals from Vanessa Ogbonna and Niamh Walsh turned the game on its head and gave Tramore the three points

Adamstown    4          Cloughbawn    3
These two near neighbours served up a seven goal thriller with the home side eventually doing enough to take the victory. Chantelle Martin put Adamstown ahead but a goal from Mary Tyrell and two from Kate Cullen had the premier division new girls in control but another goal from Chantelle as one each from Niamh Kelly and Leanne Murphy gave Adamstown an opening day win

Ferns United   9          Coolgreaney Celtic     0
Last years runners up Ferns United made their intentions known in this match as they put promoted Coolgreaney Celtic to the sword. A Josie Dwyer hat trick, two goals from Liz Everedd and one each from Hayley Nolan, Gemma Kehoe, Leona Breen and Rachel Collier saw the home tide wrap up a comfortable victory

Womens Division One A

Killenagh Wanderers  4          Wexford Celtic           1
The home side had this game wrapped up at half time when they led four nil thanks to goals from Marian Kavanagh, Isobel Naughter, Leona Masterson and Sara Killick. Nellie Walsh did pull one back for Celtic in the second half but they could make no further headway into the home side defence and Killenagh seem intent on a quick return to the premier division

Curracloe United        5          North End United       0
A young Curracloe side are determined to make a quick return to the top division as they overcame North End with five goals to spare. Bridget Curran, Niamh Doyle, Amy Banville, Clara Donnelly and Noeleen Shanahan were all on target for the home side

Shilelagh United         2          Kilmore United           3
These two sides will be hoping to be in contention for promotion at the end of the season and after this thriller, neither will be far away. Lisa Goff and Johanna Cousins put Kilmore two goals ahead but Fiona Byrne scored twice to bring the home side back onlevel terms. However, Jasmine Redmond had the final say when she scored late in the game to give the visitors all three points

Womens Division One B

Glen Celtic      2          New Ross Town         3
A Jenny Delaney hat trick gave the New Ross side all three points in a very tough closely fought encounter where all five goals came from dead ball situations. Siobhan Nolan scored both Celtic goals in a game of few chances despite five goals being scored

St Josephs       4          Courtown Hibs           0
Tracey McCormack made a return to womens soccer and scored twice as the home side overcame Hibs four nil with Aoife Kavanagh also scoring twice. Hibs did create chances but found the Joeys defence difficult to break down

Corach Ramblers         1          Bunclody AFC           0
A solitary Shannon McDonald goal gave Corach victory in a very close encounter where both sides created several chances while a young Bunclody side were unlucky not to equalise when a free kick struck the crossbar late in the second half

Womens Division Two A

All Blacks       5          Cloughbawn B            3
This eight goal thriller saw All Blacks eventually take all three points despite a very spirited display by Cloughbawn second team. A Roisin Furlong hat trick as well as goals from Roisin Murphy and Deirdre Kenny had the home side always in control while Joanne Kennedy scored a hat trick for Cloughbawn

Moyne Rangers           1          Rosslare Rangers         10
The home side were given a baptism of fire in division Two A as Rosslare Rangers knocked in ten with Shannon O Brien scoring five, Shauna O Byne adding four with the tenth being deflected to the net by a Moyne defender. Ciara Tobin scored a consolation goal for Moyne

Womens Division Two B

Campile United           1          Rosslare Strand           1
Both these sides were content with a point each after a very close battle saw them exchange a goal each. Danielle Kent was on target for Campile while Nadine Bail scored for Strand

Castledockrell United 10        Crossabeg AFC           0
The home side opened their season with a big win over Crossabeg with Ellen Kelly scoring four, Caitriona Murray scored two while Lisa Carroll Doyle, Cait Doyle, Kelly Ann Murphy and Alma Morris all added one each

Bree United    3          Cushinstown AFC      0
Two goals from Niamh Parker and one from Mary O Gorman gave Bree an opening day win over new club Cushinstown who did create chances but found the home defence difficult to break down

Under Twelve National Cup
Four teams from Wexford have qualified for the Leinster Under Twelve blitz after the League blitz in Bunclody on Saturday. Cloughbawn looked very impressive as they eventually overcame Tombrack three nil, drew one all with Gorey Celtic and romped past Camolin Celtic seven nil to top the group. Gorey Celtic finished second on goal difference as they beat Camolin three nil and Tombrack two nil as well as the draw with Cloughbawn. Tombrack finished third after a penalty shoot out victory over Camolin. The girls from Camolin also qualified for the Provincial finals which will take place in the Oscar Traynor Complex in Coolock on Saturday October 6th and we wish them all the best of luck.
