Fixtures and Results 01-04-2012

Wexford and District Womens and Schoolgirls League 01-04-2012

Under Ten Cup Semi Finals
Campile United           1          Kilmore United           2
Kilmore are on course for the league and cup double but they will feel relieved to come away from Campile after winning two one in a thrilling cup semi final. It was an unlucky own goal that had the premier champions in front at half time and they doubled that advantage early in the second half when Sophie Boxwell converted a penalty. Campile made every effort to get back into the game and were rewarded when Eadaoin Kent scored with seven minutes to go but unfortunately it was too late and Kilmore held on to take their place in the final

St Leonards     2          Ballindaggin    1
Division Three side St Leonards are through to the cup final after overcoming premier side Ballindaggin by the odd goal in three. In a very closely contested semi final in front of a large crowd both sides produced some entertaining football before the home side eventually progressed to the final. Shauna Nolan was on target for Ballindaggin but goals from Lauren Roche and Jessica Ryan saw the St Leonards girls through to meet Kilmore

Under Ten Premier Division

Shelbourne made the long journey to Tombrack last Tuesday evening and came away with all three points as they scored three in the second half. Chloe Merrigan, Tara Doyle and Aoife Coughlan were all on target for the Ballywilliam second string

Under Fourteen Cup Semi Final
Curracloe United        1          Killenagh Wan            0
After what was a thrilling semi final, Curracloe are through to the under fourteen cup final when overcoming a very good performance from division one side Killenagh. The only goal of the game was scored by Lauren Fitzgerald to put her side into a final meeting with either Kilmore or St Leonards who played on Monday evening

Under Fourteen Division Two A
Moyne Rangers           1          Bunclody AFC           6
Bunclody moved to the top of the division after this six one win in Moyne. Megan Dobbs scored for the home side but two goals from Katie Hendrick and one each from Shauna Kearney, Britney Conroy, Michella Farrell and Rachel Kelly gave Bunclody a vital three points. The game was one all at half time.

North End United       0          Ballindaggin    5
Ballindaggin remain just a point behind Bunclody after this good win away to North End. Niamh Atkinson scored twice with Aoife Hennessey, Sinead Nolan and Roisin Brimson all adding a goal each

Bridge Rovers 4          Corach Ramblers         1
The home side saved themselves from relegation after this win over understrength Corach who have now decided to withdraw from the division due to lack of numbers. Ellie Diskin scored for Ramblers but two goals from Sinead Ronan John and one each from Emma Rossiter and Kelly Scallon gave Rovers all three points

Under Fourteen Division Two B
All Blacks       0          Rosslare Rangers         0
These two sides played out a thrilling scoreless draw which keeps Rangers in the hunt for runners up spot and promotion. Despite the lack of goals, it was a game of several chances but goalkeepers and defences were dominant

New Ross Town         7          Wexford Celtic           0
The home side keep in the hunt for promotion after this big win over a young Wexford Celtic side

Under Sixteen Premier Division
St Josephs       0          Shelbourne      4
Shelbourne completed their season with their sixth win and now sit five points clear of Curracloe who have three games in hand and will be favourites to close that gap in the coming weeks. However Shelbourne are making life difficult for them as they came away from St Josephs with three points thanks to two goals from Megan Whitty and one each from Mary Tyrell and Siobhan Grant Moorehead

Leinster Under Fourteen Cup Quarter Final
Curracloe United        9          Campile United           0
Last Thursday evening saw Curracloe progress to the semi final of the provincial under fourteen cup when proving too strong for a young Campile side. Jessie Sinnott scored a hat trick, Lauren Fitzgerald added two while Siobhan Doolan, Fiona Kinsella, Jessie Harding and Niamh Bennett were all on target with a goal each

Leinster Intermediate Cup Quarter Final
Bealnamulla (Athlone)            3          Tramore FC     4
Tramore made the long journey to the midlands on Saturday evening and after a seven goal thriller they made it through to the last four of the Leinster Intermediate Cup. In a thrilling game, the Wexford premier champions came out on top thanks to two goals from Niamh Walsh and one each from Orla Hickey and Vanessa Ogbonna

Womens Premier Division
St Cormacs      2          Curracloe United        2
The final game of the premier division was closely contested but proved to be a disappointing one for Curracloe who find themselves relegated from the top flight for the first time in the clubs history. Tara Moloney put the visitors ahead but two goals from Stacey Redmond had the Boolavogue girls ahead and although Laura Corrigan scored late for Curracloe, it was not enough to pull them away from the bottom two

Michelle Coleman Cup Final
North End United       1          St Josephs       1          AET
(St Josephs won on penalties)
These two sides are in the unique position of battling relegation from division one but both produced a final worthy of the occasion but had to go to sudden death penalties to decide a winner. Chances were at a minimum in the early stages but it was the young but very experienced Leanne O Reilly who broke the deadlock when she put North End in front, a lead they held to half time. St Josephs went in search of an equaliser and it came when awarded a corner on sixty five minutes and Aoife Kavanagh swung the ball in and straight to the back of the net. Defences dominated for the remaining twenty five minutes and no further goals saw the game move to extra time where once again, chances were at a minimum and the game moved to penalties. After a tense shoot out, it was the Kilmuckridge girls who held their nerve and in sudden death penalties, they did enough to lift the Michelle Coleman Cup for the first time. Chairman Daire Doyle presented the cup to the winning side while Emer O Leary picked up the player of the match award and the team put their relegation worries behind them as they headed back to Kilmuckridge for a night of celebration

Division  Two B Cup Final
Camolin Celtic            3          Moyne Rangers           1
Played in front of a large and vocal attendance, these two young sides produced a top class final with Camolin doing enough in the second half to deny Moyne the league and cup double. Camolin are in their first season and Moyne are in their second but looked far more experienced as both played attacking football and chances were created from the start but despite that, the game arrived at half time scoreless, mainly due to the hard work of both sets of defences. Camolin made the break through early in the second half when Megan Murrays long range shot took a nasty bounce and ended up in the net to give her side the lead. There was no such lucky break for the second goal when fifteen minutes later, the same player sent a free kick to the roof of the net and with twelve minutes to go, Caitriona Graham was on target to make it three nil. Ciara Tobin did pull back a consolation goal five minutes from time but it was too little too late and Camolin did enough to hold on for to lift the newest cup to the leagues list of competitions. Megan Murray picked up a well deserved player of the match award to crown off a great debut season for the Camolin girls
