Wexford Under Fourteen Inter League Tournament
Bunclody was the venue for the innaugural Wexford Under Fourteen Inter League tournament as teams from Limerick, Kilkenny, Cork, Tipperary and two teams for Wexford competed in a day long blitz. The tournament was played in the format of a round robin blitz with teams playing in the various finals depending on their finishing positions and ironically the two Wexford sides began the day playing their league game and ended the day against each other in the Shield final. From the start of the very warm day, Limerick and Kilkenny both looked impressive and one of the best games of the day was their group match where Limerick triumphed three two but it was obvious there was little between the sides. The two Wexford sides were competitive all day as they drew one all with each other with both beating Tipperary and Cork and the Wexford Wildcats producing an excellent performance to draw with an in form Limerick side. After a long day in very warm conditions,.Limerick and Kilkenny made it through to the Cup final where the Noresiders won three two on penalties after a two all draw. Wexford Wildcats overcame Wexford Panthers one nil in the Shield final with Campiles Sinead Ryan scoring the only goal of a very close match while Tipperary overcame Cork three one in the Plate final. Kilkennys Jenny Clifford was awarded a well deserved player of the tournament while Wexford had several players who played well on both teams as they battle for a place on the Gaynor Cup squad. The league would like to thank everyone who worked to make this competition a success especially Bunclody AFC and referees John Carton, Patrick Sinnott, Shem Doyle and James Doyle. Also well done to tournament organiser Barry Dempsey and the two Wexford managers for the day Tommy Breen and Tommy Gaynor
Schoolgirls Round Up
Under Ten Division Three champions caused an upset in the cup on Wednesday evening when knocking out Division One champs Kilmore United on penalties after a one all draw. It was a fantastic game of soccer played at a fast pace with Kira Bates Crosbie scoring for Kimore and Amy Cullen scoring for Celtic. In the Premier Division, Curracloe United only need a point to wrap up the title after an eight nil win over St Josephs while Ballindaggin ensured themselves of at least second spot with a six nil win over Fastnet Rovers.
In under twelve division one, Bunclody kept the pressure on the leaders with a four one win in Tombrack while Kilmore United only need a point to wrap up division Two B after a two nil midweek win over Rosslare Rangers
Kilmore United withdrew from under fourteen premier during the week leaving four teams now with a chance of grabbing runners up spot behind Shelbourne. A Ciara Rossiter hat trick gave Forth Celtic a vital win over North End United in division one and both sides are now level at the top of the table.
Shelbourne need just a point to win the under sixteen premier title after beating Bunclody six nil on Sunday while North End wrapped up the under sixteen division one title without kicking a ball when Seaview beat Adamstown two nil last Tuesday
Womens Round Up
Curracloe complted their season with a five nil home win over Ferns United and now must wait and see can Benfica win their two remaining games to bring the league to a play off. Benfica beat Kilmore three nil on Sunday and have remaining matches at home to Bunclody and away to North End.
Tramore completed their division one season away to All Blacks with a six two win but must hope that Seaview United lose both their remaining games to have any chance of promotion. Seaview made the long journey to Slaney Rovers on Sunday and won four one to keep their title ambitions very much alive
Division Two A saw Taghmon and Tombrack play out a two all draw while Shilelagh and Moyne picked up wins away to Campile and Rosslare Rangers in Division Two B
