Results for weekend of Jan 8th

Wexford and District Women’s and Schoolgirls League 08-01-2016

Under Ten Cup First Round
Aughrim Rangers        1          Carnew FC     1          aet

This all Wicklow match produced a thrilling encounter before Aughrim Rangers eventually booked their place in the last sixteen on penalties. Aoife Wafer scored for Carnew and Sarah Doyle was on target for the home side and with no further goals, the game went to penalties where Aine Darcy scored the winning penalty for her side

Fastnet Rovers            1          Wexford Youths        4
Wexford Youths booked their place in the second round when they travelled to Rathangan and came away 4-1 winners. Lily McLoughlin was on target for the home side while Ella Lambert, Rachel Cullen and two from Layla Stafford saw Youths through to the second round

Ferns United               2          New Ross Celtic        0
Ferns are through to the second round after a 2-0 win against New Ross Celtic and will be home to Wexford Youths in the last sixteen. Anna Kavanagh and Ellie Kate Larkin  scored the all important goals for the home side

Bree United     1          Bunclody AFC           2
These two sides played out an entertaining cup tie before Bunclody eventually booked their place in the second round. Casey Cullen was on target for Bree but two goals for Mia Dunne saw her side through to the last sixteen

Corach Ramblers        0          Kilmore United          2
Plenty of excitement in this cup tie before Kilmore eventually booked their place in the second round. Holly Doyle gave them a first half lead although Corach struck the post just before half time and Jess Clooney made it 2-0 midway through the second half and although Corach did get a penalty near the end, it was well saved by the Kilmore keeper

Under Ten Premier Division
Bridge Rovers             0          Ballindaggin               2
Ballindaggin remain unbeaten and in contention for the league title after this hard earned win over a battling Bridge Rovers side who are bottom of the table but putting in some excellent performances. Leah Roban and Emily Roban continued their good scoring run when they scored the all important goals

St Josephs       1          Curracloe United       9
Curracloe travelled to St Josephs and remain top of the table after they ran out comfortable 9-1 winners against a young home side.

Under Ten Division One
Forth Celtic     0          Tombrack United      8
Tombrack travelled to Forth Celtic and opened their division one campaign with a comfortable win over a young home side. Mikayla Tobin Cosgrave continued her scoring run with five while Megan Hayes scored a hat trick

St Leonards     2          All Blacks      3
All Blacks led 3-0 in this match against St Leonards but the home side battled back in the second half and were unlucky not to at least gain a point. Joel Rankin, Rebecca Cloney and Ciara Murphy had the visitors ahead but a strong second half performance saw Katie Ryan score twice for the home side

Under Ten Division Two A
Moyne Rangers           2          Courtown Hibs           2
These two sides played out an entertaining 2-2 draw with both sides content with a point at the end. Allanah Kavanagh scored both goals for Rangers while Izzy Kenna and Faith Kenna were both on target for Hibs

Shelburne FC              3          Cloughbawn AFC      1
The home side came out on top in this local derby where both sides produced some excellent football before Shelburne won 3-1. Keelin Barron with two and Lauren Phelan were on target for the home side while Kiera Wilson scored for Cloughbawn

Under Ten Division Two B
Rosslare Strand           1          Cushinstown AFC     0
Very little separated these two young sides but it was Strand who came out on top by a solitary goal

Under Fourteen Premier Div
Courtown Hibs            1          Ballindaggin               1
These two top sides in the division played out a very closely contested tie, ending in a draw and leaving them both in contention for the title. Holly Tobin scored to put Hibs ahead but a goal from Zoe Lett late in the second half earned Ballindaggin a point

Curracloe United        5          Kilmore United          1
Curracloe remain well in contention for the league title after this win over Kilmore. Caoimhe Parker scored a hat trick for the home side with Lily Stoute and Casey O Rourke also getting their name on the scoresheet

Under Fourteen Division One
St Leonards     1          All Blacks      2
All Blacks moved clear at the top of the table after a late goal gave them all three points in Ballycullane. Aoife Cullen was on target for St Leonards with a well taken goal but Aoife Houghton and Aoife Rees both scored to give All Blacks victory

St Josephs       3          Shelburne FC             6
Shelburne travelled to Kilmuckridge and came away with all three points after a very entertaining nine goal thriller. Ella Donohue, Katie Carr and Rita Redmond were on target for St Josephs while Gemma Martin with two, Anna Ryan and Katie Murphy with a hat trick gave the visitors the win

Forth Celtic     5          Moyne Rangers          1
The home side kept the pressure on the leaders with this 5-1 victory over a young but hard working Moyne Rangers side. Shannon Peare was on target for Rangers while Grace Roche with a hat trick, Lauren McLaughlin and Imogen Deas gave Celtic the three points

Under Fourteen Division Two A
Gorey Rangers            6          Tombrack United      4
In a game of several chances for both sides, Gorey Rangers eventually came out on top as their sharpness in front of goal proved vital. A hat trick from Ciara Wilkinson, two goals from Leanne Kinsella and one from Fina Lynch Gallagher comprised Rangers total while Nadine Fortune scored a hat trick for Tombrack with Ana Dragusin also finding the net

North End United       3          Seaview United         2
North End moved three points clear at the top of the table and made it four wins from four as they overcame one of their main rivals Seaview United by the odd goal in five. Tara Murphy and Chelsea King had the home side 2-0 up but Seaview came back level with goals from Charlotte Morrissey and Leah Murphy before Katie Law scored the vital goal to give her side all three points

Corach Ramblers        2          Wexford Youths        3
These bottom two teams produced a thrilling game before Wexford Youths collected their first win of the season. Grace Donovan and Orla Butler were on target for Ramblers while Kiera Payne, Grainne Ni Ailin and Rachel Meaney scored for Youths

Under Fourteen Division Two B
Aughrim Rangers        4          Arklow Town             1
Holly Jenkinson was on target for Arklow in this match but it was not enough as Aughrim ran out 4-1 winners to return to the top of the table. Ellie Devitt scored twice with Zoe Katus and Aoife Connolly also getting their names on the scoresheet

Bree United     6          Rosslare Strand          0
Megan Broaders was in fine scoring form for Bree in this match against a young Rosslare Strand side as she scored five of her sides tally. Ciara Rossiter also found the net as the home side ran out comfortable winners

Under Eighteen Super League
Bunclody AFC            1          Arklow Town             0
Bunclody had to work hard to eventually overcome a hard working Arklow Town side with Roisin O Connor scoring the only goal of the game midway through the second half

Under Eighteen “Sevens”
Gorey Rangers            1          Tombrack United       3
Abbie Molloy gave Rangers the lead in this game with a spectacular long range effort but two goals from Kelli Maguire and one from Becky Connaughton gave Tombrack a vital three points that pulls them back into the race for the title

Wexford Celtic           0          St Leonards    5
St Leonards travelled to Wexford Celtic and secured the three points that moves them to the top of the table as they came away 5-0 winners. Eimear Gabbett scored a hat trick with Niamh Browne and Linda Bradley also finding the net

Women’s Premier Division
Benfica LFC   2          Ferns United              3
Ferns came up against a revigorated Benfica side desperate for points to get away from the bottom of the table but it was the title favourites who came away with the three points that gives them their fourth win of the season and moves them to the top of the table. Brianne O Connor and Therese O Neill scored for Benfica but goals from Josie Dwyer, Leona Breen and Aoife Devereux gave Ferns the vital win

Curracloe United        0          Seaview United         3
Seaview still remain in the hunt for their first league title and just sit a point behind Ferns after this 3-0 win away to a young Curracloe side. Catherine Doyle continued her good season with two goals while Brid Doyle also got her name on the scoresheet

Adamstown     1          East End United        1
These two sides cancelled each other out in a very closely contested game which leaves Adamstown still in with a chance of the title and moves East End well clear of the relegation zone. Marcella Cullen was on target for the home side while Hannah Scott scored for the visitors

Women’s Division One
North End United v Corach Ramblers
North End have become the first title winners of the season without having to kick a ball as Corach’s withdrawal from the league gave them three points and other results going their way saw them move into an uncatchable position

Kilmore United           4          All Blacks                  1
Two goals from Katrina Parrock had Kilmore 2-0 ahead in this local derby and although Roisin Furlong pulled one back for All Blacks, it was not enough as Cora Miller scored twice to wrap up the three points. This win moves the home side back into the battle for runners up spot

Piltown FC      2          Bree United        2
Both these sides are still well in contention for promotion and cancelled each other out in this game having to settle for a point each in the end. Emily O Mahoney and Eilis Clooney scored for the home side while Amy Long and Petrina Tyrell were on target for Bree

Women’s Division Two A
Camolin Celtic            0          St Leonards                0
These two sides would still have serious title ambitions but neither could find the net in this match and had to settle for a point each. Despite no goals being scored, several chances were created but defences and goalkeepers excelled

Cloughbawn AFC       4 New Ross Town                   0
The home side got back to winning ways with a 4-0 win over a young New Ross Town side who are already in the process of rebuilding for next season. Gina Foley, Danielle Kehoe, Tracey Martin and Hannah Keating were all on target for Cloughbawn who still remain favourites for the title

St Josephs       6          Moyne Rangers                      0
Leaders St Josephs continued on their winning ways as they overcame an understrength Moyne side with six goals to spare. Emer O leary scored a hat trick with Aine Roche adding two while Lynsey Sweeney wrapped up the scoring with her first goal for the club

Women’s Division Three
Ajax Athletic              3          Fastnet Rovers           3
Ajax collected their second point of the season when they drew 3-3 with promotion chasing Fastnet Rovers. Emilia Kantowicz, Sophie Savage and new signing Siobhan Grant Moorehead were all on target for Ajax while Eadaoin Miskella and Kathlynn Gabbett with two made up the Fastnet tally

Cushinstown AFC v   0          Tombrack United      6
Tombrack edged clear at the top of the table after this 6-0 win away to a dogged Cushinstown side who worked very hard for the ninety minutes with keeper Anna Power producing a top class performance. Shannon McGovern knocked in four with Kelli Maguire and Sarah Merrigan also finding the net

St Cormacs      2          Stoney LFC   2
St Cormacs put in one of their performances of the season to draw with title chasing Stoney in an exciting end to end game. Chloe Foxe scored both goals for the visitors but Lorraine Fortune and Noelle Jordan scored the all important goals for the home side
