United 2
Holders
Ferns are through to the final of the MMI.ie Wexford Cup after they eventually
broke down a stubborn Benfica side. Ferns did enjoy most of the possession but
Benfica stood up to the challenge and defended strongly and always looked
dabgerous on the breal. However as the game progressed, Ferns began to exert
heavy pressure on the Waterford side and goals in the final quarter of the game
from Liz Everedd and Clara Donnelly saw them through to the final.
Adamstown 2 Seaview
United 0
The main difference
between these two sides was the ability to take their chances and it was
clinical finishing in front of goal that eventually saw Adamstown through to
the final. Both sides enjoyed equal possession and both had chances with
Seaview bringing two good saves from Adamstown keeper Leanne Murphy early in
the game. Both sets of defences dominated but it was eventually Adamstown who
got on top and goals from sisters Edwina and Aisling Whelan saw them through to
the final
