Womens
Premier Division
Coolgreaney
Celtic 2 Tramore FC 1
A long range
Jackie Kinch strike was enough to give Coolgreaney a shock 2-1 win over title
challengers Tramore and subsequently move themselves into a challenging
position for second place. In a thrilling game, Anne Higgins gave Coolgreaney
the lead but Vanessa Ogbonna brought Tramore level until Jackie Kinch’s late
strike gave Celtic victory despite some very sustained pressure from the
visitors in the final twenty minutes
Adamstown 2 Seaview
United 0
The home
side move into second place in the table after a hard fought 2-0 win over
bottom side Seaview. A goal from Edwina Whelan in the first half and s second
half strike from Sandra Thorpe gave Adamstown a vital three points
North End
United 0 Ferns United 2
With Tramore
dropping points in Coolgreaney, Ferns are already an impressive seven points

even at this early stage. North End did make them work hard for the three
points but goals from Georgina Moore and Josie Dwyer saw them come away from
Belvedere Road with their unbeaten run intact
Womens
Division One
St Josephs 5 Kilmore

all three points

little to help either team

they had the tables turned when Camolin came from a similar scoreline behind to
earn a point. Louise Carton (2) and Nicole Fortune had the home side well in
control but Camolin never gave up and goals from Megan Murray (2) and Niamh O
Leary earned them a point
Womens
Division Two B
Bree United 0 Moyne
Rangers 1

to earn a point near the end when they unfortunately missed a penalty

New Competitions
This season will see the arrival of two new competitions into the
calendar although both have been played for in the distant past. A premier
shield will be introduced for teams who finish outside the top two and will
give premier teams who otherwise have little left to play for, an incentive to
keep their season alive. This competition was played for in the mid nineties
but was removed by the committee at the time as an unnessecary competition. The
other competition to be reintroduced is the former Gaynor Cup which was for the
bottom four teams playing in the lowest division. This competition gave the
smaller less successful teams something to aim for at the end of the season and
was always one of the more well supported finals. The main stipulation for both
these competitions is that clubs must complete their season to be eligible for
the draw and neither competition will kick off until the league season is over.
Possibilities of looking at Shield competitions for the other divisions is also
being investigated and announcements will be made in the coming weeks
Christmas Break
As we get ever closer to the festive season clubs are already
enquiring about the break for Christmas. Final games before Christmas will be
played on Saturday December 14th and Sunday December 15th
and will recommence on Saturday January 11th and Sunday January 12th.
