Wexford and District Womens and Schoolgirls League 12-05-2012
Under Ten Cup Final
Campile United 1 Courtown Hibs 2
Played in Ferrycarrig Park as part of the John Giles Festival of Football, these two young sides produced an entertaining and exciting cup final which displayed the best in underage soccer in Wexford at present. The opening ten minutes were evenly contested and chances were rare until twelve minutes Hibs prolific goalscorer Ella Maree scored a long range effort to put her side ahead. The lead was shortlived however as Campile were level within minutes as some skilful play put Amy Ennis through to slot past the keeper. The second half was evenly contested and looked to be heading for extra time until Holly Tobin struck five minutes from time to clinch the cup for Courtown, Johnny Giles himself was on hand to present the cup to the winning side as well as player of the match award to Leonie Ward
Under Ten Division Two B
Cloughbawn 4 Adamstown 1
Isabelle Herbert was on target for Adamstown in this midweek match but a hat trick from Caitlin Blackburn and a goal from Chloe O Neill saw Cloughbawn complete their season with a well earned victory
Enniscorthy Town 3 Tombrack United 4
Tombrack continued their good end of season run when travelling to title challengers Enniscorthy Town and coming away best in a four three victory and clinching the title for Rosslare Rangers. Amy Shannon with two goals and Cassie O Rourke were on target for Towm while Mia Kelly hit two for the visitors with Tara Kenny and Amy Tobin Cosgrave adding one each
WFAI Under Fourteen Cup First Round
Gorey Celtic 0 Peamount United 5
The home side put up an impressive display at home to one of the countries top clubs before eventually bowing out five nil. Peamounts sharpness in front of goal was the difference between the two sides and Celtic will have learned a lot from the experience of playing in the national cup
Under Fourteen Premier Division
Curracloe United 2 Kilmore United 1
The home side clinched the league title after overcoming Kilmore in an exciting match which eventually saw Curracloe secure the three points required. Kilmore needed to win to force a play off but goals from Sadbh McCarthy and Siobhan Doolan saw Curracloe come out on top with Cora Miller on target for Kilmore. League Training Centre coach Elaine Casey was on hand to present the trophy to the victorious home side
Under Fourteen Division One
Bunclody AFC 2 Ballindaggin 1
The home side did Moyne Rangers a massive favour when overcoming title contenders Ballindaggin on Saturday and the win for Bunclody ensured Moyne were crowned league champions. Britney Conroy and Kate Hendrick had Bunclody two nil up at half time and although Aoife Devereux pulled one back for Ballindaggin, it was not not enough for to keep their title hopes alive
Ger Dunne Under Sixteen Cup Final
Killenagh Wan 2 St Leonards 1
A breezy Cloughbawn saw these two sides produce an incident filled cup final before Killenagh eventually secured their third cup final win within ten days. Playing with the wind St Leonards opened the scoring when Lauren Egan gave the Killenagh keeper no chance when scoring after fifteen minutes. They were given a massive opportunity to double that lead before the break when awarded a penalty which went just wide and they went in still one nil up at the break. Killenagh used the wind to its fullest advantage in the second half and levelled through Cailin Fitzpatrick and with ten minutes to go Sinead Gaynor scored what proved to be the winner. Tom “Flash” Dunne was on hand to present the cup to the newly crowned winners while St Leonards player Ciara Ryan was awarded player of the match
Under Sixteen Premier Division
Curracloe United 0 Killenagh Wan 0
These two sides played out their final league match of the season and the scoreless draw means they will have to meet again in a play off to see who lifts the title. This game was as close as the scoreline suggests with chances at a minimum and defences dominating but it has now set up a play off as Killenagh look to secure the league and cup double while Curracloe are looking to retain their league title for the fourth year in a row
