Boland Carpets Cup Final
New Ross Town 0 St Josephs 2
A blustery Bunclody hosted the Boland Carpets Cup final between St Josephs and New Ross Town but despite the windy conditions, both sides produced an excellent game of football. St Josephs played with the wind in the first half but despite loads of possession, they were finding it difficult to break down a well marshalled New Ross defence. However, the breakdown eventually happened on twenty eight minutes when Aine Roche scored to put Joeys ahead and it was a lead they held until the break. While New Ross did push forward in the second half they found the St Josephs defence impenetrable with Georgia Warren in the goal being very sharp off the line. The turning point came when player of the match Lisa Johnston cleared a goal bound shot off the line and five minutes later Pamela Walsh scored to clinch the victory. League committee member Tom “Flash” Dunne presented the cup to the winning captain to start off a night of celebration.

Playing with the wind in the second half, Castledockrell battled back into the game and two goals from Cait Doyle had them back level with twenty minutes to go. However they did not press home their advantage and allowed Camolin back into the game and the game was to end dramatically when four minutes into injury time, Aoife Quinn scored a spectacular goal from outside the area to retain the cup for Camolin. League chairman Daire Doyle presented the cup to the victorious team and the player of the match award to Orla Furlong
