Wexford and District Womens and Schoolgirls League 07-04-2013

Under Ten Cup Semi Finals
Curracloe United        1          Courtown Hibs           2
The home side look favourites to lift the premier title but they bowed out of the cup when beaten by division one side Courtown Hibs. In a very closee fought and entertaining cup match, Hibs just did enough to book their place in the final thanks to two goals from Ella Maree while Grace Harding Kenny was on target for Curracloe

Campile United           2          Rosslare Rangers         0
It took premier side Campile all their time to get past division two side Rosslare Rangers and go through to a cup final meeting with Courtown Hibs. Rangers enjoyed the opening exchanges but could not score and were punished just before half time when a defender deflected an Amy Ennis shot into ther own net. Campile used their experience to close the game down in the second half and booked their place in the final when Amy Ennis scored with eight minutes to go

Kilmore United           0          Ballindaggin    0
These two sides played out a scoreless draw which keeps them both locked together in midtable with probably enough points not to be relegated and not enough to catch the top two

Under Ten Division One
Gorey Celtic    0          Bunclody AFC           1
Bunclody collected a vital three points in Gorey that will see them finish runners up at worst with Laoise Kearney scoring the only goal of a very closely contested game

Under Ten Division Two A
Shelburne        0          St Leonards     0
The top two sides in this division played out an exciting scoreless draw which leaves them both in contention for the title. Both sides created chances in this game but defences dominated and both sides had to settle for a point each

Killenagh Wan            2          All Blacks       1
The home side picked up their first win of the season when overcoming All Blacks two one in a very exciting and entertaining match. Seren Ward was on target for All Blacks while Holly Moran scored both goals for Killenagh

St Josephs       0          Shelburne        3
Played last Monday, Shelburne travelled to Kilmuckridge and came away with three points thanks to goals from Jemma Martin, Jessica Sutton and Katie Murphy

Under Ten Division Two B
Corach Ramblers         1          Enniscorthy Town       4
Enniscorthy Town remain top of the table after travelling to Corach Friday evening and coming away four one winners. Rachel Gaynor was on target for Ramblers but four goals from Amy Shannon gave Town all three points

New Ross Town v Adamstown
After a busy week, New Ross Town collected an easy three points when Adamstown were unable to field a team for the match on Saturday

The home side began a busy week on Monday when playing Cloughbawn and coming away with all three points thanks to a goal from Emma Rossiter

Both these sides are doing well in their respective divisions but it was Campile who came out on top in this cup quarter final and progressed to the semi finals. Elena Kenny scored all three goals for the home side who proved too strong for Celtic on the day

These two sides played out a one all draw on Wednesday with Sarah Walsh putting St Josephs ahead in the first half before Louisa Donnelly levelled for Forth in the second half

The home side had to work very hard to get past Gorey Celtic in this cup tie and will feel fortunate to have booked their place in the last four. Amy Wilson was on target for Celtic but two goals from Mary Ellen Suden saw the home side through

Ballindaggin went through to the last four after overcoming Killenagh midweek and go through to meet Bunclody in the semi final. Megan Cahill was on target for Wanderers but two goals from Aoife Devereux saw the visitors through

Under Fourteen Premier Division

The home side proved too strong for Cloughbawn and have set up a do or die match with Curracloe to decide the destination of the premier title. Becky Furlong was on target with two goals while Cora Miller added a hat trick

Curracloe remain top of the table and need just a point from their final match against Kilmore to clinch the title. Niamh Territt scored both goals for the home side while Siobhan Doolan, Elaine O Sullivan Connell and two from Fiona Kinsella saw Curracloe take a vital three points

The home side have pulled themselves into a promotion challenging position after overcoming bottom side St Josephs. Ciara O Connor, Muireann Kehoe and Alex Holden were all on target for the home side

Leaders Moyne Rangers never got into this game in Bunclody and found themselves still with work to do before they wrap up the title. The home side were excellent on the day and were always in control with Kate Hendrick and Britney Conroy scoring two goals each while Amy Coleman also found the net

Gorey Celtic    1          Bridge Rovers 3
Bridge Rovers are on the verge of taking the league title after this win in Gorey and now just need two points to be declared champions. Amy Wilson was on target for the home side but goals from Holly Johnson, Sinead Ronan John and Deirdre Byrne kept Rovers on target for the title

North End remain second after travelling to Rathnure and coming away with a vital point thanks to goals from Rebecca Foley and Chelsey Pitman

Under Fourteen Division Two B
Wexford Celtic           2          All Blacks       3
All Blacks moved to the top of the table and have ensured promotion after this win away to Wexford Celtic. Katie Bergin and Sarah Murphy were on target for the home side but two goals from Emily Coakley and one from Abbie Jones gave the visitors a vital three points

Under Eighteen Cup Semi Finals

A thrilling cup semi final saw North End progress to the final after extra time against a determined Seaview United. Rose Wallace and Fiona Rowe were both on target for Seaview while Katie O Leary, Andrea Byrne, Fiona Bennett and Sara Byrne were all on target for the home side

Killenagh progressed to the final after a nine goal thriller saw them edge out Cloughbawn in an exciting end to end game. Mary Tyrell with two goals plus Megan Whitty and Shauna Wall were on target for the home side while a hat trick from Leanne Bolger as well as goals from Aoife McCrea and Sinead Gaynor saw Killenagh into the final.

This cup semi final had to go all the way to penalties before Killenagh eventually booked their slot against North End United on April 21st. Natasha Walsh was on target for Celtic while Laura Stafford was on target for Wanderers and with little to divide the teams, the game progressed to penalties where the visitors did enough to hold their nerve and go through to the final

Kilmore keep alive their chance of getting promoted after overcoming bottom side Shilelagh United. Noreen Lambert scored a penalty for the visitors but a Katrina Parrock hat trick and a goal each from Niamh Moore and Diane Doyle kept the home side on track for runners up spot

These two sides are locked together in the bottom half of the table and both would have liked the win but had to settle for a point each after this scoreless draw. The home side were understrength but showed fighting spirit to take the point

Fastnet Rovers            2          New Ross Town         9
New Ross Town were crowned divisional champions after proving too strong for the home side, running out nine two winners to get the points needed to wrap up the title. Simone Lyons and Lina Smitate scored two goals each while Anne Carroll, Nicola Gannon, Joanne Murphy, Linda Kelly and Kellie Keating all added a goal each. League Vice Chairman Barry Dempsey was on hand to present the trophy to the victotrious captain whose side contest the Boland Carpets Cup final next Sunday as they chase the double

St Josephs travelled to Forth Celtic on Friday evening, coming away winners which keeps alive their chances of promotion. Aisling McCauliffe were on target for Forth while Aine Roche, Louise Hammell and Tracey McCormack all scored for the visitors

Womens Division Two B

Crossabeg made club history when recording their first win ever as they travelled to Campile and came away with all three points. Oilbhe Raftery and Bernie Browne were on target for the visitors as they recorded their first victory after two seasons

Leinster Womens Shield Semi Final

Bridge United made the long journey from Athy to Kyle Cross and despite having a player sent off they progressed to the Leinster Shield final after a three two win. After a tough entertaining encounter, the Kildare league side did enough to pip the home side to a place in the final.
