Wexford and District Womens and Schoolgirls League 06-03-2011

Under Twelve Cup Second Round
Shelbourne set up a quarter final clash with Curracloe when they overcame Camolin Celtic six nil in their delayed second round tie. Mairead O Shea, Jackie Carr and Shauna Wall all scored two each as the division one side comfortably overcame the division three leaders. Bunclody also made it through to the last eight as they overcame Bree United second team seven one. However Bree Uniteds first team travelled to All Blacks on Sunday morning and booked their place in the quarter finals with a comfortable five nil win. Sophie McCabe scored two with Katlyn Furlong, Louise Butler and Niamh Sinnott scoring one each

Under Twelve Premier Division
Curracloe travelled to Campile and in what was an excellent game of football, the seasiders came away with all three points and leapfrogged the homeside to keep the pressure on the leaders. In a very evenly contested tie, Fiona Kinsella scored the only goal for the Curracloe side. Glen Celtic moved second in the table when travelling to North End on Sunday morning and winning three one against a young home side. Aoife Kelly scored for North End while two goals from Rhianna Cullen and one from Diuran McDonald gave Celtic a vital three points

Under Twelve Division One
Tombrack and St Josephs had to settle for a point each in this division one relegation battle as they played out a two all draw. Molly Carton and Katie Hammel scored for the Kilmuckridge girls while Ashling O Rourke scored two for the home side

Under Twelve Division Two A
Ballindaggin picked up the three points in the only division two A game played when Sinead Nolan scored twice in their two nil win at home to Fastnet Rovers

Under Twelve Division Two B
Kilmore United and Seaview United are both deadlocked at the top of the division after both collected important wins at home to St Leonards B and Rosslare Rangers respectively. Two goals from Rebecca Furlong and one each from Cora Miller and Megan Benson gave Kilmore a four nil win while Seaview travelled to Rosslare and came away with a two nil win thanks to goals from Dani Odham and Jane Ryan. Seaview also played midweek away to St Leonards and won one nil thanks to a Linda Hickey strike. Amy Wilson scored for Gorey Celtic and Rebecca Carter scored for Bridge Rovers as they played out a one draw

Under Twelve Division Three
Wins for Courtown Hibs B, Forth Celtic B and New Ross Town has tightened up the top of division three as only three points now seperate five teams. New Ross Town travelled to St Josephs and came away six nil winners while two goals from Jodi Rochford gave Forth a two one win over Shelbourne B with Hannah Keating scoring for the Ballywilliam girls. Courtown Hibs produced a two one win over Bridge Rovers with Niamh Territt and Alyson McPartland scoring for Hibs and Jamie Devereux scoring for Rovers. Cloughbawn collected their first three points at under twelve when travelling to Wexford Celtic and winning three one thanks to a hat trick from Megan West with Kate Redmond scoring for Celtic

Leinster Under Sixteen Cup
A young Tombrack side hosted WFTA from Finglas in the Leinster Under Sixteen Quarter Finals and put up a brave performance before bowing out five nil to their more experienced opponents. Curracloe United also bowed out to a very accomplished Mount Merrion who put in an excellent performance to progress to the semi finals three nil

Ger Dunne Under Sixteen Cup First Round
Shelbourne progressed to the quarter finals of the Ger Dunne Under Sixteen Cup when travelling to Bunclody on Thursday evening and coming away twelve four winners. Bunclody were much more competitive than the scoreline suggests but still found the firepower of the visitors too much too handle. Lucy Sherwin scored five, Leona Breen added a hat trick while Kate Cullen and Siobhan Grant added two each for Shelbourne while Katie Sheehan scored two and Rebecca O Connor and Jessica Martin added one each.

Under Sixteen Division One
North End are on the verge of lifting the under sixteen division one title after they won eight nil away to Bree and Adamstown were dropping points away to Kilmore. A hat trick from Chloe Bates, two goals from Sara Byrne and one each from Thomasine Conway, Danielle Kehoe and Jessica Beary ensured North End were always in control in Bree. A strong first half performance from Kilmore saw them overcome Adamstown three one with Jasmine Redmond scoring two to add to one from Niamh Moore while Katie White scored for Adamstown. Seaview kept their promotion hopes alive with a five nil win away to Castledockrell. Alison Tubritt scored twice with Sheena Murphy, Lisa Waters and Cora Cullen also finding the net

Under Sixteen Division Two
Forth Celtic moved one step closer to lifting the division two under sixteen title when travelling to an understrength Rosslare Rangers and coming away comfortable seven nil winners. Aoife Rossiter scored a hat trick while Aisling Barry, Eleanor Kehoe, Aine Ennis and Rachel Bridges all added one each. Gemma Kehoe has hit a fine run of scoring form of late and continued this run as she scored five in Courtown Hibs six nil win over Rathnure while Sinead Gaynor also found the net

Leinster Intermediate Cup Quarter Final
Holders Benfica are in the semi finals without having yet kicked a ball in the competition as they received a walkover from Leixlip United minutes before departing Waterford on Sunday morning. This comes on the back of a first round walkover against Eureka Kells two weeks ago.

Wexford Womens Cup Third Round
Division Two B side Rosslare Rangers made the long journey to Division One side Slaney Rovers in the last sixteen of the Wexford Cup and caused a major upset when winning two one. Rovers led one nil at half time through a Carol McGrath goal but disaster struck early in the second half when prolific goal scorer Catherine Dempsey picked up a nasty injury and had to be removed to hospital by ambulance. Rangers picked up the pace when the game resumed and scored through Bobbi Doyle and Sarah Walsh to put the visitors into a quarter final meeting with Seaview United. Both teams and everyone in Wexford soccer wish Catherine a speedy recovery

Womens Premier Division
Bunclody keep their title hopes alive when coming from one nil behind to beat Killenagh four one. Isobelle Naughter had given Wanderers the lead but a second half hat trick from Marian Doyle and a single goal from Elaine Doyle gave Bunclody their eight win of the season. Adamstown also had to come from behind to beat bottom club Kilmore and actually trailed four two with fifteen minutes to go. Leanne O Reilly and Jasmine Redmond scored for the home side but Adamstown finished stronger with goals from Niamh Kelly, two, and one each from Laura Hickey and Geraldine Thorpe.

Womens Division One
St Cormacs sit proudly top of division one after travelling to Tramore and coming away with all three points after a one nil win. Shauna Sinnott scored the all important goal in the first half and some excellent defending and goalkeeping held the home team at bay as the Boolavogue girls became one of the very few teams to come away from Tramore with three points. Enniscorthy Town inflicted the first league defeat of the season on leaders Seaview United when winning three one to throw the division wide open. Catherine Doyle scored for Seaview but an Anne Marie Dwyer hat trick gave Town a very important three points. St Josephs collected a valuable three points in their relegation battle as they overcame Glen Celtic five nil. Victoria Burke scored a hat trick with Emer Prendergast adding two goals

Womens Division Two A
Forth Celtic are looking favourites to clinch runners up spot and promotion after this hard earned one nil win at home to Fastnet Rovers. Tina Bergin scored the solitary goal in the first half and Celtic held on to collect the three points despite a late effort from Rovers that came back off the crossbar. Corach Ramblers collected three points that will go a long way to ensuring that they keep their division two A status as they shocked promotion challengers Arklow Town two nil. Leanne McGrath and Tracey Sinnott were both on target for Ramblers against a depleted Arklow side

Womens Division Two B
Shilelagh United will have to wait another while before wrapping up the league title when they travelled to Courtown and dropped their first points of the season. Jamie Brownrigg scored two for the visitors while goals from Gillian Synnott and Laura Ramsey gave Hibs a well earned point. New Ross Town kept alive their promotion hopes with a two nil win away to Castledockrell thanks to goals from Ann Carroll and Linda Kelly. Cloughbawn continued their improved performances with a two nil win away to Rosslare Strand while Moyne Rangers were two one home winners against Campile United.

Clubs who won cups and shields last season should return those to the league committee immediately as they are now overdue. All trophies should be in good condition, cleaned and engraved with name of winning club. Contact any committee member to return your trophy and please be aware that clubs can now be fined for late return. The level of match reports has dropped dramatically in recent months and all home teams should note that they are responsible for phoning in result and scorers and items of note from the match
