Wexford and District Womens and Schoolgirls League 13-03-2011

Under Ten Premier Division
Curracloe are looking good to be crowned under ten premier champions for the second year in a row when overcoming Bree United five nil. Sarah Siggins and Elaine O Connell Sullivan scored two each with Sarah Whelan also finding the net. A hat trick of hat tricks gave Ballindaggin a comfortable nine one win over bottom club St Josephs as Aoife Devereux, Niamh McHugh and Clodagh O Leary all scored three each while Bronagh Furlong scored for St Josephs

Under Ten Division One
Shelbourne moved to the top of the division when beating Bunclody five one with Kate Murphy and Kelly O Rourke scoring two each with Chloe Byrne adding one while Kellie Maguire scored for Bunclody. Seaview also picked up a very important three points when overcoming Forth Celtic one nil thanks to a goal from Molly Power. Shelbourne also picked up three points during the week with an eight nil win away to Forth Celtic with Kelly O Rourke scoring five and Hannah Keating, Kate Murphy and Eva Boland adding one each.

Under Ten Division Two A
Moyne Rangers moved joint top of division two after this one nil win over Bridge Rovers with Sinead Morrissey scoring the only goal of a very closely contested match. Ferns United also kept in touch with the leaders after a one all draw at home to Corach Ramblers with Charlotte Stammers scoring for the home side while Aimee Fleming levelled for Ramblers.

Under Ten Division Two B
All Blacks moved up to second place in this division when overcoming an improving Tombrack side three nil. Emily Coakley scored twice with Abbie Jones also finding the net

Under Ten Division Three
Taghmon picked up their sixth win of the season and remain top of division three after beating Cloughbawn three nil. Emma Clark scored twice and Emma Kelly also scored in a very competitive game as Taghmon moved top of the table. Glen Celtic remain two points behind as they came away from Wexford Celtic with a seven nil win with Aoife Nolan scoring an incredible five goals while Naomi Larrissey scored two

Under Fourteen Cup Second Round
Premier side Shelbourne and Division One leaders North End United played out a thrilling second round cup tie in Belevedere on Saturday morning and it was the home side who caused an upset by progressing to the quarter final. A first half goal scored by Rebecca Foley proved to be the only goal of a very close and entertaining cup match and North End now meet Campile United in the last eight

Under Fourteen Premier Division
Ferns moved to the top of the premier division when travelling to Bree and coming away four one winners. An incredible Four goals from Rita Davitt was enough to give Ferns a vital three points and move a point clear of Shelbourne
Under Fourteen Division One
Away wins for Campile United and Courtown Hibs moved them to within two points of the leaders as they overcame Corach Ramblers and Forth Celtic respectively. Campile overcame Ramblers four two with Sinead Ryan scoring two to add to a goal each from Grainne Ryan and Megan Whitty while Eilish Cullen scored two for Corach. Courtown Hibs came away from a very young Forth Celtic with a three nil win that moves them to touching distance of the leaders with Gemma Kehoe, Shannon Clancy and an own goal accounting for the goals

Under Fourteen Division Two
Glen Celtic and Seaview United are deadlocked at the top of division two after both recorded good away wins on Saturday. Two goals each from Leanne Foley and Ciara Nolan gave Seaview a four nil win in St Leonards while Glen Celtic travelled to an understrength Tombrack and came away with a comfortable six one win. Rachel Creane scored for the home side but four goals from Amy Banville and one each from Dervla Doyle and Lauren Fitzgerald gave Celtic the points. Moyne Rangers and Ballindaggin played out a seven goal thriller with Ballindaggin taking the points in their first win of the season. Channelle Kenny scored two for rovers with Shauna Clince all scoring but goals from Sinead Nolan, Rachel Casey, Shannon Casey and Niamh Atkinson gave Ballindaggin a four three win.

Under Sixteen Premier Division
Shelbourne moved clear at top of the under sixteen premier division when overcoming St Cormacs nine four last Monday. Leona Breen scored five with Siobhan Grant scoring two and Kate Cullen and Lucy Sherwin adding one each. Amy Walsh and Shauna Sinnott scored two each for the Boolavogue girls

Under Twelve Division One
Thursday afternoon saw Shelbourne take three points when travelling to Forth Celtic and scoring a late goal in a one nil win. Jackie Carr scored the only goal of the match to move the Ballywilliam girls one point clear at the top of the division

Wexford Womens Cup Quarter Finals
Holders Ferns United relinquished their hold on the cup when bowing out to Curracloe United in an excellent game that went to extra time to find a winner. Kate Redmond put Curracloe ahead but goals from Liz Everedd and Josie Dwyer had the holders in the driving seat at half team. The home side continued to work hard and Clara Donnelly levelled midway through the second half and no further goals saw the game go to extra time where Fiona Bennett scored the winner five minutes into first half extra time. North End will join Curracloe in the semi final when overcoming Enniscorthy Town four two but town made the premier side fight all the way to earn their place in the last four. North End led three nil at half time thanks to goals from Martina Pender, Aoife Tormey and Shauna Glesson but early second half goals from Bridget McDonald and April Breen had Town right back in the game. However a Nellie Walsh goal ten minutes from time ensured that North End would be playing Curracloe in the semi final. Benfica travelled to Bunclody and proved too strong for a weakened home side and took their place in the last four with a comfortable six nil win. Two goals each from Brianne O Connor and Keely Claydon as well as one each from Claire Conlon and Stephanie Hallahan increased the Waterford sides long unbeaten run in all competitions. Seaview United take on Rosslare Rangers next Sunday in the remaining quarter final

Michelle Coleman Cup Preliminary Round
Tramore travelled to All Blacks and proved far too strong for the home side and ran out comfortable seven nil winners. Four goals from Niamh Walsh, two from Jemma Linehan and one from Tara Power gave the Waterford side a place in the quarter final

Leinster Junior Cup Semi Final
Seaview United took their place in the final of the Leinster Junior Cup where they will meet Brookfield Celtic after overcoming DWSL side Shelbourne in this highly entertaining semi final in Mersheen on Sunday afternoon. Goals from Sadie Murphy, Sonja Murphy and Catherine Doyle gave Seaview the honour of being the first Wexford side to make it through to the Leinster Junior Cup Final

Leinster Under Sixteen Cup Quarter Final
Shelbourne are through to a semi final meeting with Mount Merrion when overcoming Rush Athletic five nil on Sunday afternoon. Leona Breen scored a hat trick with Siobhan Grant and Lucy Sherwin adding one each in a game that the home side were always in control

Womens Division One
Leaders St Cormacs picked up an easier than expected three points when promotion contenders Coolgreaney Celtic were unable to field a team and had to conceded a walkover. At the other end of the table, Glen Celtic and Slaney Rovers played out a one all draw with Lorraine O Connor scoring  for Celtic while Edel Mcgrath levelled for Rovers

Womens Division Two A
Forth Celtic moved to second place in the league when overcoming Corach Ramblers, who were playing their last league match of the season, four nil. Eleanor Kehoe scored twice with Orla Sayers and Aisling Barry adding one each as Celtic now become odds on favourites to secure promotion to division one.

Womens Division Two B
Shilelagh United were crowned division two B champions after they beat Moyne Rangers three nil to lift the title in their debut season. Edel Kennedy scored two and Leanne Tumelty was also on the scoresheet and  at the final whistle Wexford Womens League Chairman Mick Doyle was on hand to present the cup to the victorious side. Courtown Hibs kept alive their chance of getting promotion with a three one victory over Rosslare Rangers. Bobbi Doyle scored for Rangers but two goals from Gemma Kehoe and one from Gillian Synnott gave Hibs a valuable three points. Castledockrell trailed two nil to Cloughbawn at half time but bounced back in the second half to run out five three winners and keep alive their outside chance of catching second place. Tracy Martin, two, and Edel Dillon scored for Cloughbawn but two goals from Bernie Coleman and one each from Mairead Doyle, Joanne Kearns and Denise Kearns gave the home side a valuable three points.

Johnny Giles Walk of Dreams
Sunday March 27th will see the first ever Johnny Giles Foundation Walk of Dreams and this day will see no fixtures being played as most clubs will be participating in this sponsored walk. As this directive for no fixtures has came from the FAI, no teams will be allowed to play and if two teams do request to play a fixture, it will not be accomodated by the league. Under Ten, Fourteen and Eighteen fixtures will go ahead as normal on Saturday March 26th

Under Fifteen Schools International
Ciara Rossiter of Forth Celtic and Mary Tyrell of Shelbourne have both been selected on the Republic of Ireland Under Fifteen schools squad to participate in the Bob Doherty tournament in Cardiff in April. This is a fantastic achievement for these two hard working, committed and dedicated players and we wish them both the best of luck as they represent their country

Return of Trophies
Any clubs who won trophies last season and have not yet returned them should do so immediately ensuring that they are cleaned and engraved with the name of the winning club. You can return the trophy by contacting any league committee member
