Fixtures and Results 1st December 2013

Wexford and District Womens and Schoolgirls League 01-12-2013

Reports by Peter Doyle

Under Twelve Premier Division

Ballindaggin moved joint top of the premier division after a 3-0 home win over Curracloe who surprisingly find themselves at the bottom of the table after dominating this age group for the past five seasons. Faye Larkin (2) and Niamh McHugh were on target for the home side who now join Campile at the top of the table.

Under Twelve Division One

Courtown Hibs travelled to Bunclody and came away with all three points after a 2-0 win with prolific goalscorer Ella Maree scoring both goals while St Leonards picked up an easy three points when Gorey Celtic were unable to pull together a team to travel to Ballycullane. Seaview Celtic travelled to Wexford Celtic and a 1-0 win saw them move into third, three points behind the leaders with Jennifer Dunne scoring the goal

Under Twelve Division Two A

New Ross Town recorded their fourth win of the season when overcoming Bridge Rovers 2-0 and are currently joint top of the table with Lauren Rossiter and Jade Walsh on target for Town. Wexford Youths came away from Moyne Rangers with the three points after a dramatic late goal by Sophie Codd gave them a 2-1 win. Moyne had taken the lead through Zoe Kearney but Aoibha Lewis levelled for Youths before Sophie’s last gasp winner moved Youths joint top of the table. Shelburne picked up their first three points of the season after an entertaining 2-1 win over North End United. Latysha Cullen scored for North End but goals from Ellen Ronan and Brid Madigan gave the home side victory

Under Twelve Division Two B

Corach Ramblers and St Josephs remain deadlocked at the top of the table after they recorded wins over Tombrack United and Forth Celtic respectively. Ashling Waters (2) and Maxine Byrne were on target for Corach as they overcame Tombrack 3-0 while Amy Mitten and Ella Cullen scored for St Josephs as they beat Forth 2-0. Aine Byrne and Emma Carton were on target for Celtic but an Edel Keogh hat trick picked up the points for the home side. Rosslare Rangers overcame All Blacks 3-2 to go into second place in a game that will be remembered for not one free being awarded in the 40 minutes, a credit to the referee, both teams and their mentors. Aoife Haughton and Sarah Hendrick were on target for All Blacks while Zoe Butler (2) and Abbie Sinnott were on target for Rangers. New Ross Town B and Shelburne B played out a 3-3 draw with Dearbhla Bailey scoring a hat trick for Town second team

Under Sixteen Premier Division

Curracloe move top of the table after overcoming Killenagh in the big game in the premier division as they came away with a 2-0 win with Siobhan Doolan and Rianna Cullen scoring the vital goals. St Leonards recorded their first win of the season when overcoming Ballindaggin 3-1 on Sunday morning with Ciara Ryan Caoimhe Power and Alex Golden all on target for the Saints while Niamh Atkinson scored for Ballindaggin

Under Sixteen Division Two

Plaudits in this division must go to Gorey Rangers and Wexford Celtic who played out an incredible 7-7 draw, probably one of the highest scoring draws in the history of the league. Ciara Hammett and Amy Wilson scored two each for Rangers with Alison McPArtland, Mica Connolly and Eabha Cahill also on target while Aoife Kelly (4) and Rebecca Ennis (3) scoring for Celtic. All Blacks join Bridge Rovers at the top of the table after a 2-0 win away to Tombrack with Abbie Jones and Caoimhe McKeon scoring the goals. Killenagh Wanderers second team and Arklow Town played out a close encounter before Wanderers eventually took all three points courtesy of a Cailin Fitzpatrick goal

Leinster Under Sixteen Cup First Round

Two Wexford teams were in action in Offaly in the first round of the provincial cup but both bowed out despite putting in spirited performances. Cloughbawn lost 3-0 to Tullamore Town but were well in the game as they trailed just 1-0 at half time but an early second half goal and another in injury time saw Tullamore through. Campile United were away to Edenderry Town and after a fast paced entertaining match, Edenderry progressed 3-1 with Eva Boland on target for Campile

Womens Premier Division

Benfica            2          North End United        3

North End travelled to Waterford and after a very competitive encounter came away with the three points that moves them into third place while Benfica are finding themselves been hauled into a relegation battle. Brianne O Connor scored both goals for the home side while Alysha Cullen (2) and Martina Pender were on target for the Wexford town side.

Seaview United           3          Tramore FC     2

The home side recorded their second win in a row and took a major scalp when beating second placed Tramore by the odd goal in five. Seaview led 2-1 at half time and although Tramore got back on level terms, the home side scored in injury time to grab a very important three points. Niamh Walsh and Vanessa Ogbonna were on target for the visitors while Eimear Mullan, Kellie Mullan and Sarah O Brien all scored for Seaview

Adamstown     5          Coolgreaney Celtic     1

Sarah Merrigan scored for Coolgreaney but goals from Ann Marie Dunphy (2), Nikki Dunphy (2) and Leanne Murphy gave Adamstown victory. Ann Marie Dunphy was making her first experience back in Wexford soccer after being away on her world travels for a year
