Final results of 2016

Under Twelve Cup Prelim Round
Ballindaggin Seconds             0          Wexford Youths Green           8
Wexford Youths Green side made the journey to Ballindaggn on Saturday morning and will travel to Adamstown in the first round proper after this 8-0 win against a very young home side. Goals from Zoe Kelly (2), Cliona Kearney (2), Rachel Meaney (3) and one from Sarah Leahy saw Youths through

North End United       2          Ballindaggin FC         3
This game was worthy of being the final as these two sides played out a five goal thriller that was filled with drama down to the dying seconds. Ballindaggin controlled the earlier parts of the game and went 3-0 ahead thanks to two goals from Anna Roban and Niamh Doyle but North End battled back with two goals from Katie Law and when they were awarded an injury time penalty, the game looked to be heading for extra time. However, the well taken penalty just grazed the post and went wide and Ballindaggin left Hollygrove a very relieved side

The league would like to wish all its members, supporters and referees a very Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year. Games will be back on Saturday January 7th with a round of Under Ten, Fourteen and Eighteen games while the Women will be back in action the next day.

Results 11-12-2016

MMI.ie Wexford Women’s Cup First Round
Fastnet Rovers          2          Benfica LFC    1
Fastnet Rovers caused one of the biggest upsets in the history of the league when 
they knocked five times cup winners Benfica out of this years competition and have earned a trip to All Blacks as their reward in the second round. The Waterford side have been struggling all season and currently sit bottom of the Premier division but it would still have been expected that they would overcome the Division Three side. Andrea Holmes was on target for Benfica but goals from Eadaoin Miskella and Lorraine Breen earned Rovers a place in the history books

St Leonards                7          New Ross Town        1
The home side earned a home tie against North End United in the second round after this good win over New Ross Town in a game that was closely contested until the final twenty five minutes when St Leonards superior fitness came to the fore. Sandra Murphy was on target for Town but two goals each from Fiona Ryan and Eimear Gabbett plus one each from Alex Holden, Chloe Banville and Aoife Drennan put the Ballycullane side through

Women’s Premier Division
Curracloe United       0          Ferns United              4
Ferns made it three wins from three games and moved to second in the table after this 4-0 win away to Curracloe United. Goals from Leona Breen, Liz Evered, Rachel Collier and Georgina Moore gave the away side an important three points and move into a strong position heading into the Christmas break

Women’s Division Two A
Camolin Celtic           10        Cloughbawn AFC      2
Camolin collected their first three points of the season and inflicted the first defeat on Cloughbawn as they ran out surprising 10-2 winners. Tina Cullen and Gina Foley were on target for the visitors but goals from Aoife Curran (4), Caroline Murphy (3), Katie Keogh (2) and Niamh O Leary gave Camolin victory

Shelburne FC             1          Courtown Hibs          2

Courtown recorded their sixth win of the season to sit second in the table heading into Christmas although they had to work hard for the three points against a hard working Shelburne side. Kate Devereux scored for the home side while Sonia Redmond and Sarah Lynch were on target for Hibs

Aughrim Rangers made the long journey to Forth Celtic in this preliminary round game and earned an even longer trip to St Leonards after this 3-0 win. Lacey Jane Shannon scored one while Aoife Campbell added two

Taghmon United      2          Bree United               2          aet
(Bree United won 4-2 on pens)
Two goals from Hannah Keating had Taghmon 2-0 ahead in this match and they looked to be heading to a first round game at home to Bridge Rovers. However, Bree battled back in the second half with goals from Amy Doyle and Holly Dunbar brought the game to extra time and eventually penalties where they progressed 4-2.

Forth Celtic Green made their way through to a first round meeting with Moyne Rangers when they travelled to Ferrycarrig Park and came away 2-1 winners with a goal from Katie Kehoe in the dying seconds. Jenna Kirwan had scored for Youths while Katie scored both for Celtic

Hibs continued their good form this season with a 6-1 win over a hard working Shelburne side. Neala Barron was on target for Shelburne but a hat trick from Hannah Redmond and a goal each from Grace Davis, Rebecca O Connor and Sasha Greene saw Hibs through

Ramblers travelled to Bridge Rovers and booked their place in the last sixteen of the cup. Rachel Gaynor scored a hat trick for the visitors while the fourth goal was courtesy of an own goal by a home side defender

Bunclody are through to the second round when they travelled to New Ross Town and came away 4-0 winners

Carnew are through to the second round of the cup after they overcame Campile on penalties after a very entertaining 1-1 draw. Erin O Callaghan was on target for Carnew while Lauren Howlin Bolger scored for Campile

St Cormacs made the long trip to Cushinstown and overcame the home side 4-0 to go through to the last sixteen

The home side made All Blacks work hard before the visitors eventually made their way through to the second round after a 5-0 win. Aoibheann Rankin scored twice with Kiera Casey, Cora Sinnott and Ciara Murphy all adding one each

Tombrack United      1          New Ross Celtic       5
New Ross Celtic went through to the second round after they overcame Tombrack United 5-1 after a strong first half display. Caoimhe Keher Murtagh scored a hat trick for Celtic while Keelin Jensen and Aoife Kielthy added one each. Ava Dragusin scored a late consolation goal for the home side

Curracloe United are through to the second round after they overcame St Josephs 3-0 in a very entertaining cup match

Rosslare Rangers are enjoying an excellent season and continued that form in the cup when proving too strong for Gorey Rangers who scored through Ashley Fitzpatrick. However two goals each from Tegan Fortune, Bobby Culleton and Abigail Clarke saw the home side through

The home side made it five wins from five games as they overcame a young but hard working Shelburne side. Ella Lyng scored for the visitors but Becky Connaughton (3), Nadine Fortune (4), Shannon McGovern, Zoe Tobin Cosgrave, Nicola Ryan, Kelli Maguire and a long range effort from Breda Cushen saw Tombrack collect all three points

Bunclody moved to second in the premier division when they overcame Courtown Hibs 3-1 after a very entertaining encounter. Gina Burke was on target for Hibs while goals from Geri Rose O Connor, Ciara Roban and Aoife Darcy secured the three points for the home side

Celtic moved to second in the table after they overcame Corach Ramblers by a six goal margin. Michelle Carthy and Sarah Carroll scored two goals each with Nadine Cunningham and Caitlin Murphy were on target for Forth

Town made it five wins from five games and lead the way as we head into Christmas after this 6-1 win over Seaview. Jenny O Keefe (3), Eadaoin Kent (2) and Amy Lawlor all scored for the home side

Division Two B
Camolin Celtic           10        Arklow Town            3
Camolin remain well in contention after proving too strong for Arklow and running out 10-3 winners. Aida Ulainchiv, Ella Dodd and Molly Garland were on target for Town but goals from Megan Byrne (3), Emma Carton (3), Megan Doyle (2), Aine Byrne and Grace O Halloran gave Celtic all three points

Carnew picked up their second win of the season when they overcame Moyne 8-3 in a highly entertaining encounter. Lucy Kemple (3), Leanne Kelly (2), Kaley Kavanagh and Aine O Gorman all scored for the home side while Shanisse O Reilly (2) and Chloe Browne were on target for Rangers

St Josephs      1          Wexford Celtic         3
Wexford Celtic joined St Josephs at the top of the table after this 3-1 win in Kilmuckridge. Aliat Kotun scored twice with Aishling O Sullivan also finding the net to have Celtic in control but St Josephs battled back strongly in the second half but only reward was a goal from Amy Mitten

Cloughbawn AFC      5          Kilmore United         2
Division Two A side Cloughbawn proved too strong for division one’s Kilmore and booked their place in the last sixteen courtesy of this 5-2 win. Gina Foley scored a hat trick for the home side with Tina Culen and Kate Cullen adding a goal each

Bree United   1          Courtown Hibs          6
Courtown Hibs travelled to Bree and came away comfortable 6-1 winners against the division one side. Amy Long scored for Bree but two goals each from Lauren Ramsey and Sarah Lynch and one each from Donna O Brien and Aoife Gleeson saw Hibs through

All Blacks        2          Stoney LFC               1
All Blacks had to work hard to get past Division Three joint leaders Stoney. Roisin Furlong scored both goals for the home side while Chloe Foxe was on target for the visitors

Tombrack United      2          Seaview United “B”              0
Two second half goals saw Tombrack through to the second round when they eventually overcame a hard working young Seaview side. Sarah Merrigan and Mary Boland were on target for the home side

North End United     1          Camolin Celtic          0
Division One leaders North End United had to work very hard to overcome Two A side Camolin Celtic but eventually booked their place in the second round courtesy of a Shauna Carley goal

Bunclody AFC            6          Wexford Bohs          0
Bunclody had too much fire power for an understrength Bohs side and progressed to the second round 6-0. Britney Conroy continued her good scoring form with a hat trick while Kate Hendrick added two and Jenny Whelan also found the net

Ajax Athletic 0          Seaview United        3  (Abandoned on 48 minutes)
This game had to be abandoned three minutes into the second half when an Ajax player received a nasty head injury and had to be removed to hospital. Everyone involved in this match wish her a speedy recovery. Seaview were leading 3-0 at the time

Shelburne FC             3          Piltown FC                7
Pltown came out on top in this high scoring encounter and go into the hat for the second round draw. Eimear Murphy and Eileen Murphy (2) were on target for Shelburne while Annemarie Toth, Dorothy Hughes and Emily O Mahoney (5) all scored for the visitors

St Josephs      1          St Leonards              1

Both these sides remain in contention for the title after this very tight game saw the sides end level. Emer O Leary put St Josephs ahead in the first half but a second half goal from Fiona Ryan earned St Leonards a point

Bunclody made the trip to Aughrim a worthwhile one as they ran out 6-0 winners to book their place in Division Two A which will kick off in January. Mia Dunne was in fine scoring form as she knocked in five while Emily Rothwell also got her name on the scoresheet

The home side picked up their fourth win of the season and finished second in the group to qualify for a place in Division One

Cloughbawn             0          Wexford Youths       2
Wexford Youths rounded off the first half of the season when they travelled to Cloughbawn and came away 2-0 winners, making it four wins from four games and a place in Division One

Under Ten South
Corach Ramblers      2          Kilmore United         3
These two sides played a very entertaining five goal thriller before Kilmore eventually came out on top 3-2. Keelin Gallagher and Rachel Nacey were on target for Ramblers but a Jessie Clooney hat trick gave the visitors all three points

New Ross Town        5          Seaview United        0
Town are through to the last sixteen of the Under Ten Cup when they overcame Seaview 5-0. Abi Rossiter and Ava O Leary scored two each with Shauna Power also finding the net for the winners

Moyne Rangers        2          Shelburne FC            0
Moyne cam out in top in this evenly contested encounter and booked their place in the second round courtesy of this 2-0 win. Katlyn Cooney scored both goals for the young home side

Forth Celtic    1          Rosslare Strand        2          (aet)
One of the most exciting matches of the day saw Rosslare Strand eventually overcome Forth Celtic with a goal in the second half of extra time. In a thrilling game, Lauren Gregg scored for the home side but goals from Scarlet Bright and Lucia Donohue gave Strand victory

The home side progressed through to the last sixteen of the cup after this 4-0 win over a young Cushinstown side who battled hard in a game that was much closer than the scoreline suggests

One of the cup favourites, Curracloe booked their place in round two when they came out on top in this local derby against near neighbours Bridge Rovers. Aoife McEldowney was on target for Rovers but two goals each from Polly Redmond and Zara Corrigan put the visitor’s through

North End could be one of the dark horses in the cup this season and proved their strength when they travelled to Corach and came away 6-1 winners. Grace Donovan was on target for Ramblers but five goals from Katie Law and one from Chelsea King saw the visitors through

Shelburne made the short trip to New Ross Celtic and booked their place in the second round draw with a 5-0 win.

Curracloe made the long journey to Arklow a worthwhile one when they collected their second win of the season to move top of the table. Four goals from Siobhan Doolan and one from Rachel Bennett gave the visitors the win

Bree moved clear at the top of the table after they overcame Wexford Celtic 2-0 in a very entertaining encounter. Louise Butler and Amy Long were on target for the home side who would be considered title favourites at present
